If you guessed "Love and Other Drugs" star Anne Hathaway, then you are correct! She recently pitched her own "Glee" role to Ryan Murphy at the Golden Globes, and now she's all set to play Kurt's lesbian aunt in an upcoming episode. So Anne Hathaway is stealing quite a few coveted roles these days (it seems like anyone and everyone wants to be on "Glee" and in a Christopher Nolan movie).
By playing Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises", Anne Hathaway will be joining a fabulous shortlist of famous actresses that have played one of the sexiest supervillainesses ever: Michelle Pfeiffer, Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, and Halle Berry's infamous incarnation make up the shortlist so far.
It's great that Christopher Nolan decided to resurrect Catwoman once again for "The Dark Knight Rises". Sure her character has been done time and time again, but there's obviously a reason for that: audiences simply love the best female villain of the Batman universe (although I've still got to contend that it would have been nice to see Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy team up on the big screen).
But at least Anne Hathaway won't be alone when it comes to adding a little girl power to "The Dark Knight Rises"; Selina Kyle is going to be joined by another female lead that is yet to be cast. Anne Hathaway was reportedly up against Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara (who would make a great Poison Ivy), Charlotte Riley, Gemma Arterton, Naomi Watts, and Eva Green for one of the roles, so one of these lovely ladies could end up snagging the other slot.
And before we get too excited about getting to see another Catwoman suit, so far it's only been stated that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle, with no mention of her alter-ego (though it's hard to imagine that Selina Kyle wouldn't create her beloved costumed cat burglar at some point in "The Dark Knight Rises"). One of the other rumored female leads was for the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, and it's already known that Tom Hardy will be playing Bane.
But whatever happens, it's great news that the very talented Anne Hathaway has been cast in yet another challenging role; her Hollywood fairytale has definitely come a long way since "The Princess Diaries".
