The Mystic Masquerade, Coyote Jack's Halloween Party and many private parties held over the weekend marked the start of this extended Halloween season. The Mystic Masquerade was sponsored by the Mystic Earth Book Store and hosted by the Roseburg branch of the Moose Lodge.

This event ran from 7pm till 11 pm and was divided into an adult, alcohol, drug free dance and gathering with a live DJ and some wondrous entertainment featuring dancers combining old legends and original choreography with well thought out back ground music. The kid's side, which provided free baby sitting for parents taking respite on the adult side, was well stocked with things to do, cookies and cider.

The costumes ranged from ancient gods and goddesses, as was the evening's theme to elegant and elaborate costumes rented or made especially for the occasion. There was a very obviously macho male tom cat, a bird woman, witches, lots of fairies in all sizes and shapes, knights, kings, and costumes that spoke of ages gone by.

Fortune tellers, Mary Arthur and ShaRon were on hand to add a bit of authentic Halloween flavor to the cauldron!

Proceeds from this event went to UCAN and also to the Moose Heart Children's Home just outside Chicago.

Plans are already in the works for next year! Mark your calendars now!!
