Cause of Rosecea

Rosecea, which is the reddening of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and even eyelids, can occur in people as young as thirty. Thought to be hereditary, it is not known for sure what causes the onset of rosecea. Along with redness, acne may appear. This is one of the reasons rosecea is hard to diagnosis because it can mimic an acne break out. But if this happens often and is accompanied by redness that lasts for a few days, then a person probably has rosecea.

Whenever a person has a skin ailment that does not clear up in a few days, they should see their dermatologist. If rosecea goes untreated, it will get worse. The acne will turn into bumps that will look inflamed. These bumps can make a person's nose seem bigger and cause their eyes to swell and leak. Rosecea can be very painful if left untreated. But there are many new products and procedures that doctors now use to treat this skin disorder.

If a person only has a mild case, a doctor will prescribe an antibiotic to control the swelling and redness. This should also clear up any acne experienced. The symptoms should disappear after a few days' use. If the rosecea has not cleared up after a few days, then an acne treatment will be prescribed. This should do the trick. When the blood vessels on the face have become too inflamed and are affecting a person's day to day living, laser treatments are available to reduce the size of the blood vessels.

People with rosecea have to make several lifestyle changes in order to avoid breakouts. Overexposure to sunlight will cause the skin to become inflamed which will cause a breakout. Exercise, alcohol consumption, and stress are also factors that contribute to a rosecea breakout. Reduce stress as much as possible to prevent blood vessels from swelling. People with rosecea should also avoid spicy foods.

There is no cure for rosecea. But with medication and changing the way a person lives, one should be able to keep breakouts to a minimum. Visiting a doctor after the first breakout will help when treating it. The faster a person receives treatment, the less they will have to worry about it later in life. Rosecea can be very painful and can cause additional stress to those who suffer from it. Catching it early is one way to end the pain.
