STDs Like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
Chlamydia and gonorrhea are sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) that are caused by a bacteria. The bacteria can be spread through semen, vaginal fluid and blood. These STDs lead to horrible infections of the reproductive organs that may even lead to infertility. The only way to test for these STDs is through blood samples. Antibiotics are an effective treatment, but depending on how long a woman has been infected, she may have permanent damage.
Cervical Dysplasia
Cervical dysplasia is when precancerous cells from in the cervix. This can be caused by sexually transmitted diseases as well as from natural occurrences. These abnormal cells can be removed via cryosurgery.
Polyps
Polyps are smooth finger-like growths that can be found on the uterus or on the cervix. These growths are extremely fragile and when a woman has sex, this will cause bleeding after sex as they get irritated and will break open. Polyps on the cervix as well as the uterus can be removed by a doctor.
Yeast Infection
Yeast infections are a common cause for bleeding after sex in women. Other symptoms include vaginal itchiness and a foul-smelling discharge. Yeast infections can be treated with anti-fungal treatments prescribed by your doctor.
Fibroid Tumors
Fibroid tumors are usually benign growths but they can cause bleeding in a woman. Many times a woman will not even know she has fibroid tumors as there may be no symptoms or signs. The tumors can also shrink and go away on their own. There are several treatments available for these tumors.
Pregnancy
Some women never have bleeding after sex until they become pregnant. Pregnancy can make the lining of the cervix and vagina more sensitive as well as there are more blood cells in those areas when a woman is pregnant. If you are pregnant and you notice blood after having sex, be sure to call your doctor as soon as possible to rule out anything more serious.
Tears in Vaginal Tissue
Vaginal tears are common in women who have sex for the first time or who have gone through menopause and have problems with being too dry during sex. Vaginal tears can also happen from too rough of sex or foreplay. It is common for pain or a stinging sensation to accompany vaginal tears.
If you have a consistent problem with bleeding after sex, you want to be sure to call your doctor as you should undergo blood test for STDs as well as an ultrasound and pap smear to look for fibroids or any other abnormal features.
