Causes of Overheated Xbox and What to Do About It

If it's the first time your Xbox freezes up and stops playing the DVD, or your game just hangs and can't continue, I've written this article with you in mind.

The main reason for this problem to happen is because it has overheated. Specifically, I will teach you why your Xbox overheated, what you can do about it, and what you should be cautious about so that it won't freeze up next time.

All gadgets, electronic devices which includes handphones, laptops and PC heats up when under usage. There are lots of reasons why these things overheat. One of them is because there's no good air ventilation. The place where you place your Xbox should be well ventilated in order for the heat to be dissipated.

Running the Xbox for too long will cause overheating too. Like you, it needs rests too. So take a break whenever the machine feels like it's hot enough to boil an egg.

The other reason it could have heated up is because of a weak internal cooling fan. Although this issue rarely happens, there will definitely be some Xbox that comes with low quality components. Hopefully you're still covered by the warranty when you find out about it.

So, what can you do when your console overheats and jams the game? For starters, you should turn it off. Then wet your hands and wipe the parts that has no openings.

Doing so increases the dissipation of heat because the water will absorb the heat and vaporizes into the air.

Please do not use ice to cool down your machine as a drastic drop of temperature will cause the console to deform and damage the components within. While wiping your Xbox with your wet hands, you can also get a table fan to blow at it.

Once that is done, turn on your Xbox and check to see if it's working or not. If it does, pat yourself on the back. If it doesn't, contact Microsoft to get a repair.

Here's one other thing that you should keep in mind to prevent your Xbox from overheating. Always make sure your Xbox is clean of dusts. Dusts have been known to clog up the ventilation systems of gadgets. Either keep your Xbox in a dust-free area or cover it with a cloth when not in use.

Once you understand how to apply this, just do it on a frequent basis and you will never get a jammed Xbox ever again.
