Caves Branch Jungle Lodge in Belize

In Belize, located twelve miles south of the capital city of Belmopan, and just off the Hummingbird Highway, is a fifty-eight thousand acre estate, known as Caves Branch Estate. The estate sits nestled along the Caves Branch River, in the midst of the Belizean Rainforest, and on its grounds, surrounded by flora and wildlife is the Jungle Lodge.

If you are looking for a high-class resort, completely sheltered from the surrounding terrain, this is not the place. The Jungle Lodge receives visits from surrounding wildlife regularly, as it truly is a part of the forest, not set apart from it. Accommodations are open to nature, with large windows on the most luxurious of the rooms, the Jungle Suites, down to the option of camping right by the river's edge. Owner Ian Anderson prides the lodge on being for people like himself, explorers looking for a one-of-a-kind journey.

The Lodge House serves as the Jungle Lodge's indoor dining and recreation hall, where guests can have a specialty drink, such as the "Cave Wreck," "Panty Ripper", or a Belikin Beer, and share stories of their day's adventures. All meals are served buffet style in the Lodge House, with a generous variety of vegetarian and meat recipes, breads, and plenty of local fruits and vegetables.

For visitors staying in the cabanas, bunkhouse, or taking up the option of camping, the jungle showers are provided. These outdoor showers, covered in jungle leaf for privacy, are open at the top to the rainforest canopy above.

A rain forest sleepover and hip outdoor showering is only the beginning of what Caves Branch has to offer visitors. For over a decade, Anderson has been one of Belize's top adventure guides, and one of the most daring voyagers into the caverns, mountains and rainforest, and he offers that knowledge and expertise to lodge guests and other daring visitors.

Jungle and caving expeditions for those with the "adventurous spirit" are led by Anderson, and other guides who were personally selected and trained by Anderson, from their base at the Jungle Lodge. Guides are trained in cave and wilderness rescue, as well as first aid. As members of the Belize Cave and Wilderness Rescue Team, being with members of Anderson's guide team is being the safest you can be on such expeditions.
