Cay Clubs Losing in the Florida Keys

captdallas2
Key Hospitality Acquisition Corporation announced early this month that the Cay Clubs acquisition is not happening. After raising nearly $50 million dollars, Key Hospitality put the brakes on the deal. Cay Clubs has a large $74 million dollar debt coming due by the end of the year, failed to make a one million dollar payment on a $50 million plus loan, is at least two months behind on lease payments to pre-Cay Clubs condo owners, failed to meet its lease back agreement with new condo owners and seems to missed last week's paycheck for employees. (Sources Miami Herald; Florida Keys Keynoter; unnamed sources)

Earlier this year Cay Clubs laid off numerous Florida Keys mid-level employees to restructure for the Key Hospitality take-over. In September, Cay Clubs abruptly closed two of its Marathon, Florida restaurants, Latitudes and Cabot's. Condo owners at Sombrero Resort in Marathon have initiated law suits against Cay Clubs for failing to remodel and upgrade units as required in the purchase agreement. Three properties managed by Cay Clubs have been taken over by local developer Pritam Singh.

It looks like a pretty dark time for the Cay Club investors. The Florida Keys may be seeing a ray of sunshine as interest in at least one of the Marathon properties is increasing. Sunvest USA, the previous owner of Sombrero Resort is taking back management and ownership from Cay Clubs. So Sombrero condo owners may be getting some relief from Cay Clubs' Keys debacle.

With Cay Clubs paper Hospitality Empire melting, the Keys can only wave a single finger adieu to Emperor David Clark and his nepotistic band of minions.

You tell me any developer doing well- if they are a publicly traded company, they have public funds keeping just their nostrils above water...if they are privately held companies, like Cay Clubs was, they are DOA. Banks stopped lending. That''s what ended Cay Clubs- just like if you were building a house and got loans along the way for the progress- the banks take the initial monies right up front- in order to give the developer the loans to progress. Then they stopped. I knew everyone. Do your research before throwing your stones- but I know who is throwing the stones- a middle aged woman acting like a preteen. And her long haired, yeah baby boyfriend who is also horribly upset she didn't get anything when the ship went down.

It's obvious it's his ex wife and her boyfriend posting all these. She hoped to get a lot of money from the divorce and kept him hostage until she got it but she didn't because it wasn't there. Now she's retaliating- classic. Grow up.

Why is Dave Clark off the hook because he is out of the country? The investors that were scammed are seeing financial recovery from the real-estate agents, Dave Clarke's employees, all banks involved in his scam, appraisers and mortgage companies etc the list goes on and on. Now that the loans are being given back from lending institutions the entire above are being sued mostly because they carry E&O insurance. Why are they going after the unknowing parts that have insurance (only because they can find them. and insurance companies pay) and not Dave Clark who made millions and has once again figure out how to avoid the system and still remain rich. At the same time pulling into his scheme Innocent people that magaged a living by there profession. There needs to be repercussions for him no matter where he is. He should let the licensed agencies know (confess) to what he did and they should reinstate, pqy fins or attend school for all people that he was able to scam Let Dave Cla

do you know the name of the restaurant?
i hear he bought a landscape company and hotel too?
i hear several of the people that moved to Turks to be a part off his going-forward plan are now back in the Keys
i hear there are several very large investors that gave him many millions that haven't been able to get him to respond to suits but they are going after Schwarz brothers.
where did all the money go?
I hear DC has a partner from Satellite Beach that is working with him in Turks.
there are lots of lawsuits and evidence of numerous crimes against DC, Stokes, Graham, Schwarz/bros,
did DC ever get his divorce and marry the co-thief that took our deposit money for vacation stay in the keys?

Any man can get a divorce in a timely and reasonable fashion and it sounds like you are a frustrated woman and rightfully so. If he and her "should've" been divorced in 1999 and you have all of this pent up rage you really need to redirect it to who is sleeping at your side because as I said ANY man who REALLY wants a divorce CAN get one. This is the United States of America. Maybe just maybe it is he who is the "TERRORIST" and the CHEAT. Ponder that for awhile

  • Anonymous1/27/2009

His ex is a terrorist and a cheat. And she has the balls to put him down! Everyone in the Keys knows the story- hubby worked too much so she had to get her kicks all over town with no regard for anyone. Then she won't let him go legally but they've been apart for over 10 years-- she's had more boyfriends than one can count! Get a life and a job, Mrs. Leech! You screwed around- let them go and live their lives- we've known these people for so long and it is so sad what his ex did to everyone and continues to do and he did and does nothing but treat her with respect. She needs a good SLAP!

cont... take while a Dominican court enables you to cut legal ties, at the same time the American courts decide who gets what (which could take even more years). It's a matter of not wanting to be held hostage any longer by a terrorist. Not a matter of support. I've personally never heard of a system which states you have to support your ex 100% for the rest of her life after she's held a separate life, ever for years within the marriage. God didn't make lawyers or legal papers. And those are the only things standing in the way of a divorce which should have been finalized in 1999.

Why you ask did he and his second wife break up in the first place? Because she ran around on him for years, with many men, even friends of his. Once split, she wanted several millions of dollars and a life insurance policy for millions but the only issues were: he'd have to sell his businesses (to get those millions) which were what supported her and all the kids (and you cn't sell what you don't fully own) and no one would give him life insurance because he'd had melanoma. So she wouldn't budge, and he supported her above and beyond until he couldn't any longer at the rate she expected- but agreed to support all their bills, etc if she'd just sign the papers to enable him to move forward legally with his life he'd had with Cristal for 9 years. He'd bought her (his ex and their kids) a beautiful condo, cars, paid all her bills and taxes for 10+ years...and finally asked her to sign a divorce which enables an American court to decide financial matters over however long the prcess could
