Caylee Anthony Doll Goes on Sale by the Same Company Who Marketed the Michael Vick Dog Chew Toy

Caylee Anthony doll goes on sale.

The Showbiz company websites says "The Caylee Sunshine Doll is a symbol of "every child" in this world. Hold onto this doll to remind you that Caylee Marie is safe in Heaven, embraced in loving arms forever!" They are selling the doll for $29.99.

The president of Showbiz productions, Jaime Salcedo told the Orlando Sentinel that he's waiting to hear back from several organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. He is considering donating $3 for every doll sold. So, if they donate $3.00 to a charity that still leaves $26.99 profit. Why not donate all proceeds to charity? The company calls the Caylee Marie doll inspirational. Marketing a doll of a dead child is just sick not inspirational in my opinion. The doll plays the song "You are my sunshine" That song was sang by Casey Anthony and the video was shown all over the news and the internet. If you have not seen her singing "You are my sunshine" the video can be seen here

As a mother the thought of someone making this doll for profit makes me nauseous. Having the doll play the song "You are my sunshine" is beyond sick. I am not sure who came up with this idea but, it's awful. Making a doll of a murdered child? I wonder who is going to buy this doll? Surely the grandparents of Caylee Anthony are not happy over this. In this world that we live in obviously nothing is out of bounds.

This is the same company that marketed the Michael Vick dog chew toy. I understand that idea and many find it funny. Meanie Babies made a Bull (Bill) Clinton doll with his pants down and the Buddy dog with what was suppose to be Monica Lewinsky's underwear in it's mouth. Those items may be in poor taste but at least they are not of a murdered child.

Ty Sasha and Malia Obama dolls cause controversy.

Ty recently made Ty girl dolls that resemble Sasha and Malia Obama. The company claims that Marvelous Malia and Sweet Sasha are not made after the Obama girls. Even my six year old daughter recognized them as Barack Obama's daughters. CNN reported on Michelle Obama's reaction. "We feel it is inappropriate to use young private citizens for marketing purposes," said first lady Michelle Obama's press secretary, Katie McCormick Lelyveld. I personally love the Sasha and Malia dolls but, understand why Michelle and Barack Obama may be upset.

**1-27-09 Edited to add: The sales of the Caylee doll have been suspend. A statement was released on the companies website "It was our intention to begin the sale of the Sunshine Caylee Doll at 12:00pm January 27, 2009. As we mentioned to the media in our press release it was very important that we allow the press to present our idea to the public first, in an effort to measure the reaction to our fund raising efforts. As the story developed we also announced that we would be donating 100% of the profits to charity. However, after reviewing the response to our media introduction of the Sunshine Caylee Doll and listening to the advice of the general public. We feel that is it best to suspend the launch of The Sunshine Caylee Doll .

While we still feel it is important to raise awareness and raise money to help stop this type of crime from being committed. We feel we can be more effective using more traditional methods. We would like to that everyone who made comments or called us to express their opinion. Sincerely, Jaime Salcedo President"

Great read and opinion - I fully agree the doll is not appropriate in anyway. And like you said if it were really charity more money would be actually going to the charity than the company and their profit. It is so sad what happened to that little girl, such a sad story. Thanks for the info and for the solid humanity and guts you have shown by writing this article and speaking against the doll maker. Superb!

OMG, the idea of the Caylee doll is a horror. The profit must be huge - - so you are right, how about donating a much larger percentage to charity! I remember the stuffed Buddy with Lewinsky's underpants in its mouth - my brother gave one to my dad as a gag gift. Wonder if it's worth something now? Great article!
