CBS Fall Lineup 2010

The Schedule for CBS is Filled with Old Favorites in New Places

Call in ambitious. Call it insane. But call it the new CBS lineup.

The CBS television network is putting a lot of trust in its viewers as they change up the schedules in a major way next fall. Gone are seven series that performed moderately well, while other long running series will be moving to different days and time slots.

Monday keeps three of its shows from the schedule last year, with "HIMYM," "Rules of Engagement," and "Two and a Half Men" still part of the comedy lineup. They are followed by "Mike and Molly," a romantic comedy from the creator of "Two and a Half Men." Then comes the reboot of the cop drama "Hawaii Five-O." It stars Alex O'Loughlin - who has had two shows ("Moonlight" and "Three Rivers") canceled after less than one season, and a lukewarm movie with Jennifer Lopez - and Daniel Dae Kim of "Lost" fame.

The only night to not see any changes is Tuesday. All three shows this night are in the same positions as last year.

Wednesday has major changes with "Survivor" moving from Thursday nights followed by "Criminal Minds" and the new show "The Defenders." In this new court drama billed as funny and character-based, Jim Belushi and Jerry O'Connell play a pair of defense attorneys in beautiful Las Vegas.

Thursday night has a new twist with comedy starting the night. The formally Monday show "The Big Bang Theory" starts the night followed by the Twitter feed inspired "$#*! My Dad Says" starring William Shatner in his first comedy series.

The "$#*!" Is pronounced "bleep" by the way. The rest of Thursday night does not change, with "CSI:" and "The Mentalist."

Friday night, the lowest watched evening for weeknight viewing is now the new home of a new show and a long standing favorite. "Medium" moves up an hour into the slot of the canceled "Ghost Whisperer." In a possible risky move, "CSI: NY" moves from Wednesdays to Fridays. The thought by the network is that fans of the show will follow it to Fridays. We shall see. They are followed by new cop drama "Blue Bloods," starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg.

Saturday nights is filled with repeats for the first two hours and followed by the real life crime drama "48 Hours Mystery."

Finally on Sunday, Horatio Caine and his glasses are on the move from Mondays. "CSI: Miami" is now the final show of the night. The long time standards of "60 Minutes" and "The Amazing Race" are in their normal spots. The reality hit "Undercover Boss" is also on the schedule.

So in a nutshell, there's the schedule. Very male driven and full of chances taken by CBS. Will it work? We shall see.
