CBS Survivor Season 22 Starts February, 16, 2011 ~ Redemption Island

New Rules and New Contenders Backstabbing Their Way to a Million Dollars

Jud "Fabio" Birza became the Sole Survivor on Sunday night, December 19, 2010. But more news was announced regarding the new season which will be the 22nd season of Survivor. It was announced by moderator Jeff Probst that anyone who quits Survivor, as NaOnka and Purple Kelly did this year, will not automatically be included on the jury if they quit late enough in the game to earn jury status. It was obvious that enough Survivor fans complained the quitters did not deserve juror status.

Jeff Probst also announced that on Season 22 there will be another twist. The twist will be called Redemption Island. This island will be where a voted out tribe mate will be exiled. They will stay there alone with only the bare essentials until the next person is voted off. Once there are two exiled contestants, they will face off in a duel where the loser will go home and the winner will remain on the island until the next contestant is voted out and brought to Redemption Island.
Exactly what kind of duel it is, we will find out in February.

According to CBS News, the next series has already been filmed back in August at San Juan del Sur Beach, Nicaragua. I truly hope it is a better season than this past one. Maybe with the new rules and twists it will boost it up a bit. This season was probably the season of the villains because most of the people where uncaring and unfeeling. Jimmy Johnson was a bright spot and knew that he would never win, but Marty campaigned for his ouster and then proceeded to take away anybody nice until he finally was found out. Maybe the older versus the younger tribe was not a good idea, but the writers have to make it interesting.

At the reunion, it was good to see Boston Rob and Rupert in the audience. They both brought back both good and bad memories of years gone by. So we will just wait until the new season starts and hopefully we will have some great memories like we did from Jane who was one tough old broad!

This is the "real" reality show which one must have the stamina and ingenuity to make it all the way. Keep the show going Jeff!!!

I'm glad you wrote this. I missed the finally. Wow Fabio who would have thought. He had a good strategy for him. Acting like you aren't there instead of focusing on backstabbing seemed to work out for him. I hope the next one is better too. I was sad to see Jane booted the way she was. She gave up allot to be there. It seemed a blessing in a way that she went home, she had lost too much weight. Good write up Diane :)

I like your subtitle about "backstabbing" their way up the ladder! Great review and that Redemption Island thing sounds a little intriguing.
