CBS's Ghost Whisperer: She Sees Dead People!

Christie Silvers
CBS's Ghost Whisperer is a very unique television show. It holds the interest of millions of people every Friday night and has people begging for more when each season is over. Ghost Whisperer just wrapped up it's second season and, just like the previous one, it left us asking, no, begging for the summer to hurry up and get over with so the new season will begin. I knew I wanted to watch this television show the moment I saw the first preview for it. I've always been interested in the paranormal and this looked to be something right up my alley. Not to mention that I've always enjoyed Jennifer Love Hewitt, even when she was just an awkward teen in Party of Five. Everyone should definitely try to catch at least one episode of Ghost Whisperer because she sees dead people!

The tv show Ghost Whisperer is about a young woman name Melinda Gordon (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt) who is married to, Jim, the one man who continued to love her even after he found out about her ability to see and speak with ghosts. Her husband, Jim (played by David Conrad), is a paramedic and is always around to support Melinda in her efforts to help earth-bound spirits. He worries about how her communications with spirits is affecting her everyday life. They live in a small town and Melinda owns an antiques shop, well, when she's not helping ghosts to cross over to the other side. It's no wonder the poor woman has to hire help to run the antique shop, ghosts wait for no one to close up shop.

Ghost Whisperer is all about Melinda, her abilities to communicate with the dead and how she must help them to feel aat peace with their previous life and their death so that they can cross over on to the other side. Each episode of Ghost Whisperer is about the events surrounding the death of a ghost who needs help understanding what has happened to them or who has a message to give to the loved ones that they unexpectedly left behind after death. Melinda Gordon does everything in her power, including shocking the dead person's loved ones by revealing she sees dead people, in order to help the spirit feel at peace.

While Melinda is running around tending to all of her spirit crossing duties, she has a shop to run, friends to entertain, a house to keep up and a husband to love. Many of the people around her think she's just a little odd, while only a few know the real reason for her abrupt ends of conversations and her quick retreats from gatherings. Ghosts appear to her no matter where she is, be it in her own bed or when she's trying to help a customer at her antique shop.

In Ghost Whisperer's second season, that just ended, we saw a lot of ghosts who were unable to cross over because some "bad guys" were blocking their path into the light. Melinda has been trying to figure out why these bad ghosts are doing it but it's slow going. She only gets little tidbits of information here and there for her to build upon. In the season finale we learned that Melinda's father is one of the bad guys and that she apparently has a brother out there somewhere. In order to find out this information Melinda had to die unexpectantly. Thank goodness she had some children with special powers around her to bring her back to life.

Ghost Whisperer is a great tv show and the writers definitely come up with some very interesting storylines. I will be watching this show until it ends, which I hope isn't for a very long time. It will be interesting to see if Melinda ever gives in to that ticking biological clock of her's and if so, will her future child have the same powers that Melinda has? Check out Ghost Whisperer, you may enjoy it and find a new favorite tv show! Ghost Whisperer airs Fridays at 8pm, on CBS.

Don't forget to check out Ghost Whisperer's home page on CBS.com. There you will find webisodes, previews and even a really cool Ghost Whisperer tarot card game that was eerily correct when I tried it. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ghost_whisperer/

I've never watched 'Ghost Whisperer'. I'm a die hard 'Tru Calling' fan, which was cancelled. 'Ghost' is essentially the same thing, only not as cool. Good article though.
