CBS’s “The Talk” Shows Emotions like Never Before

Diane Zoller-Ciatto

On CBS's version of ABC"S "The View"; "The Talk" became something quite different to what viewers are used to seeing on this show. The co-hosts were regulars; Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert along Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne's temporary replacement in Kris Jenner. As Kris was talking about her late ex-husband Robert Kardashian and present husband Bruce Jenner she got very emotional. She was married to Robert for thirteen years and is presently married to Bruce for twenty. While discussing the fact that she wants her daughter Kourtney to marry Scott Disick her long-time boyfriend and father to their son, Mason.

The tears started to flow from Kris' eyes as she exclaimed how lucky she was to have been in two great relationships. When the tears started to flow, Sara Gilbert, usually the most staid and emotionless one on the show, also started with the tears. She recently broke up with her partner of ten years, television producer Allison Adler. Each of them gave birth to one of their two children and now shares joint custody of son Levi and daughter Sawyer.

The question that prompted all the emotions was "is marriage all it's cracked up to be?" Gilbert stated that although she has never been married, she was in a long relationship and when she sees people in their 70's who have been married forever, it makes her wonder how they do it.

After seeing them in tears, even Julie Chen, who can usually hold it together after all her years in the newsroom, also shed a few tears.

Nice work. Some people seem to forget that even public people are real people.
