Cedar Rapids Wehrenberg Theatre Announces Free Family Movie Summer Schedule

Families looking for a fun, free entertainment in Cedar Rapids, Iowa can take in a free movie at the Wehrenberg Theatre Galaxy 16 Cinema. The movies will be shown at 10:00 am on Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 3, 2009 through August 6, 2009.

The 2009 Family Summer Series features ten great family films at no cost. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis so plan to arrive a few minutes early to grab a seat for your entire family.

The theater located on the North-East side of Cedar Rapids just off Collins Road on Council Street.

The free 2009 Family Summer Series schedule is as follows:

Open Season 2 (Wednesday, June 3^rd - Thursday, June 4^th)

This family film features the original Open Season cast along with some new friends. The characters work togeter to help liberate a helpless dog who was dog napped by a group of spoiled pets.

Kung Fu Panda (Wednesday, June 10^th - Thursday, June 11^th)

This lighthearted family film features Po the panda who discovers his destiny to become a kung fu hero. An Oscar nominated film for Best Animated Feature featuring the voices of Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, David Cross, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan.

The Tale of Despereaux (Wednesday, June 17^th - Thursday, June 18^th)

The voice of Matthew Broderick brings the main character, Despereaux to life. Despereaux stands out from other mice as he makes friends with both rats and humans. Dustin Hoffman, Emma Watson, Sigourney Weaver, William Macy and Kevin Kline also lend their voices to this wonderful family film.

Madagascar Escape 2 Africa (Wednesday, June 24^th - Thursday, June 25^th)

Hotel For Dogs (Wednesday, July 22^nd - Thursday, July 23^rd)

Bee Movie (Wednesday, July 29^th - Thursday, July 30^th)

Jerry Seinfeld stars as a bee in this animated comedy. Other vocal talent in the movie include Renee Zellweger, John Goodman, Matthew Broderick and Chris Rock.

Coraline (Wednesday, August 5^th - Thursday, August 6^th)
