Cedrick Wilson's Girlfriend, Lindsey Paulat, Uses His Home to Host Police Standoff

Indict Another One into the Crazy Girlfriend Hall of Fame

Profession sports athletes. They have it all: the money, the cars, the flashy houses, the...certifiably insane girlfriends?

Cedrick Wilson, wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, could have a chat with Andre "Bad Moon" Rison about the dangers of dating crazy girls. Saturday, Wilson's girlfriend, Lindsey Paulat, engaged police in a twelve-hour stand-off after firing several shots into the wall of Wilson's home.

Robert Ammon of the Northern Regional Police Department told local media that the stand-off resulted after Wilson and Paulat had a disagreement at 7 a.m. Saturday morning. Wilson later left the home at around noon and Paulat's mother came over to calm her daughter. While she was there, two shots were fired into the wall by Paulat, using a .35 millimeter handgun. Her mother left and called police.

Paulat refused to cooperate with authorities, threatened to harm herself, and demanded that she talk to Wilson, who later arrived back at the scene but did not speak to her. Around 70 neighbors were evacuated for their safety, some angered at being asked to leave their homes.

Paulat then stayed holed up in Wilson's home watching the events unfold on the television until authorities cut off her satellite TV service and turned off the gas. Paulat was finally taken into custody nearly twelve hours after the stand-off began.

It's still unclear what causes so many spouses, girlfriends, and fiancées of major sports stars to come unhinged. Is it just bad choices in women by the sports star? From the mouths of former wives, another big factor in many of the outbursts and erratic behavior is infidelity or suspected cheating.

Tami Roman (formerly Anderson) was painted in a bad light for her comments about ex-husband, Kenny Anderson.

"I don't think there's a single faithful man in the NBA. And if he is out there, then his wife has a very short leash on him," Roman publicly stated in a 20/20 interview in which she discussed her ex-husband's infidelity. She has been very publicly criticized for driving around in a Hummer with the plates 'HIS CASH'.

"It's just a tribute to Kenny, because it was his cash," she clarified, "And I thank you very much. I'm riding in style. Thank you."

Anna Benson, the outspoken wife of Kris Benson and two-time placeholder on FHM's 100 Sexiest Women list, has been another sports significant other villainized in the media and by Mets fans. It's even rumored that her husband was traded from the Mets to the Orioles because the Mets were, frankly, tired of her and her comments on the team and her husband's career.

Her husband was more supportive of his wife when speaking of going through the trade: "It was a little frustrating at the time because people kind of believe what they read. For

did u ever think that the football players drive these girls into going crazy?!?!?!? i mean i know they are FOOTBALL players but come on now!!!!! Cedrick Wilson treated this girl SO poorly on a daily basis. He would mentally abuse her one day and treat her like a queen the next day and assure everything would be ok but then a couple hours after saying that- he was right back at putting her down. She took care of HIS son that HE has with ANOTHER girl for 2 years. She was like a mom to this boy. Cedrick was never around. He is a slime ball and needs to be exposed!

My apologies to anyone reading this story. It seems part of it was cut off by mistake, but I have sent an e-mail to AC to see if we can get it fixed. Thank you! Sorry about that.
