Ceiling Medallions

Ceiling medallions can provide a lovely finishing touch to a room, and can even provide a focal point for an otherwise plain living space. Of all the different types of architectural detailing available (moulding, tiling, tin roofing, etc.), ceiling medallions may well be one of the easiest to install for the do-it-yourselfer. Of course they are high-impact as well, being right in the center of things! These beautiful pieces, usually crafted out of high-quality polyurethane with the look of plaster or ceramic, come in many different styles. One of these styles will be sure to suit your home's style of architecture and your interior decoration scheme - and of course this improvement can't help but add to your home's resale value.

Although most ceiling medallions come in plain white, they can easily be painted to suit any décor, or you can even have them gilded to add a lovely touch of the Italian Renaissance to your home. You can choose a ceiling medallion with the clean, geometric lines popular in the art deco era, or you could choose an ornate, baroque style that will give your room the feel of an elegant 18th-century ballroom. Lovely ornamental ceiling medallions featuring floral, plant, or even fruit motifs are an integral part of any well-done Victorian or Queen Anne theme, and classical medallions, some with frieze or fresco decorations, are available to suit a Federal or Greek Revival-style house. Craftsman bungalows, sleek modern penthouse apartments, Tudor Revival mansions, and split-level ranchers - all of these, and many other styles of house, can be complemented by the right ceiling medallions.

Ceiling medallions are available in a choice of one or two-piece styles, depending on whether you need your medallion to accommodate a lighting fixture, a chandelier, or even a ceiling fan. These lightweight medallions are easy to install, and require only such hand tools as a drill and a power screwdriver and perhaps a little caulk to patch up any holes you may need to drill. You can easily install your new ceiling medallion in just a few hours or less, and the expense will be minimal as well - unless, of course, you decide that you simply need to redecorate the rest of the room to go with its now-gorgeous ceiling! In fact, you might even go a little crazy and want to install them in every room of the house. Go ahead, let your imagination run wild. Every ceiling deserves a beautiful accent, and when it comes to home improvement and interior decoration and design, you really can't get more bang for your buck than with the ceiling medallion.
