Celebrate with African Underground at the National Museum of African Art
View Art by Brazilian and South-African Artists While Enjoying Afro-Brazilian Sounds
Washington, DC 20013
United States of America
The event incorporates the 'Artists in Dialogue' exhibitions which encourages two artists to create new works of art in response to each other. The artists inspire each other to work in mediums that they might otherwise be unfamiliar with ( Henrique Oliveira's trademark is woods and Sandile Zulu's is fire) and helps them expand their artistic vision.
Henrique Oliveira is a Brazilian artist whose art has won several awards. His main medium is wood which he uses for his three-dimensional pieces. He also paints in vivid, fluid color.
Sandile Zulu is a South African artist who specializes in using fire to create pieces that speak to issues. His work has been showcased around the world, and has also garnered him a few awards.
Some of you might know DJ Adrian Loving, one of the hottest DJ's on the local DC scene who was part of Dissident Display, a group that would blend video, photography, typography and interactive multimedia elements to create a multi layered video projection. His client list has included BET, Howard University, Motown, Motorola, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sutra NYC, and New York Fashion Week, to name a few.
To be part of this exciting, innovative mix of music, sound, art and culture, visit the National Museum of African Art website and purchase your tickets. You can also call them at 202-633-4651 for more information.
