The wonderful and gorgeous Barbie doll was launched in March of 1959, according to Wikipedia. With March coming up again, here is your chance to celebrate the joy of Barbie and Ken dolls and accessories.

Of course Barbie is a household name these days and you should go right to Barbie.com for the most up-to-date Barbie dolls and accessories. These days, Barbie is all about the focus on the careers of young girls and their early aspirations, such as becoming a computer engineer or a news anchor. Visit Barbie.com/vote for more information.

Do not forget about style. Yes, Barbie is not just a doll or toy. She is an institution that helps teach girls about style and beauty, things that are crucial in today's world. Find out more about Barbie style at this link.

Many people have argued that Barbie's shape and size are not realistic. That may or may not be true, but it is beside the point. The Barbie dolls are fun to look at and girls love them for what they are.

Do not forget about the Ken doll which was introduced in the 1960s. Ken was and is a great sidekick for Barbie because they get to do a whole lot of fun things together, just like couples in real life. One wonders if Ken and Barbie will ever get together and have a baby.

There are plenty of other dolls in the universe, as you well know. One type of doll is the super-popular Bratz doll. You can find these dolls at Bratz.com, or they are probably sold at the local toy store in your neighborhood.

Another hugely popular doll is the American Girl series of dolls. These are super adorable dolls for the young daughter in your life. Check out the Web site of americangirl.com for more information.

If you want a huge selection of dolls of all shapes and sizes, well you know you can always count on Amazon.com. Just go to this page for Amazon's dolls for sale at prices small and large and in between.

If you really want to celebrate the beginnings of Barbie back in 1959, make sure you get yourself a Barbie or Ken costume in 2010 and have a little party on your block. Sure, you can wait for Halloween to come to dress up but why not do it earlier in the year.

There are plenty of online retailers that sell Barbie costumes and outfits. Consider costumecraze.com or wondercostumes.com or even buycostumes.com. You can find all kinds of Barbie costumes to help your little girl look like Barbie in March or on Halloween in 2010.

Don't forget about dressing up your boyfriend or guy friend as Ken. Head on over to zoogstercostumes.com or buycostumes.com for a cool Ken costume.

Let us all appreciate the joy that is Barbie. For over 50 years, the Barbie doll has brought fun and excitement to girls all over the world.

My daughter loved Barbie Dolls when she was younger. She wanted a life size one and when she couldn't have one she dressed up her younger brother like a Barbie Doll. He was around 4 years old at the time.
