Celebrate Cinco De Mayo at Local Mexican Restaurants on the Northern Oregon Coast

There are several worthy restaurants and cafes that serve good Mexican fare on the Northern Oregon Coast. However, only some have bars or drinks available, and only a few are actually doing anything special for Cinco de Mayo. What is nice about celebrating Cinco de Mayo on the Oregon Coast is that you are unlikely to have the crowds and craziness you would get in the city. Come and join the friendly local people and enjoy a nice evening on the town. The following are the top 3 restaurants in my opinion when it comes to good, authentic Mexican food and atmosphere, and who are also participating in some way in celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

When it comes to good restaurant Mexican food, Plaza Jaliso is my local favorite. Maybe that's because it is so difficult to find a good, freshly made chile relleno. Plaza Jalisco delivers the goods here, along with other great traditional favorites. Also, their salsa and chips are excelleht and authentic, and their Margaritas pack a punch. Add the old-time Mexican restaurant feel with the red booths and oversized wooden chairs, plus a friendly staff - and you have the ingredients for a great Cinco de Mayo. Food is available to go, they have a separate lounge area, and there are daily specials. For Cinco de Mayo specifically, they will be having a special discount food menu, with many bar drinks on special as well.

El Mariachi Loco has a fun, festive atmosphere, and is probably the best-loved Mexican restaurant in the Seaside area. Tourists come back year after year for the food and great margaritas. They feature the traditional Mexican fare, and their fajitas are especially wonderful, with a Tex-Mex slant. There is a full bar, and for Cinco de Mayo they are trying to get a band to perform; call for details closer to the date. What is for sure though is that they will be having their famous Margaritas on special, and the food will definitely be worth celebrating.

With two locations, one in Gearhart and the other in Long Beach, Washington, El Compadre is a reliable choice when it comes to good authentic Mexican food. They have a traditional selection on their menu, with some great seafood choices as well. Try the sopa 7 mares, an excellent seafood soup. There is also a full bar here with a separate lounge, and for Cinco de Mayo they will be celebrating with many drink specials. Featured are their Mexican beers, and of course, Margaritas.
