Maybe you are visiting Boston as a nontraditional tourist. Or possibly you are a proud and obvious out-of-towner walking around with a gigantic street map which you remove for thorough examination on every other block from your bright pink fanny pack. Alternatively, you could also be a resident of the city, born and raised and so familiar with the who the when the where the how and the endless "what to dos of the area that you could construct and recite a perfectly accurate audio tour of the town in your sleep.
Regardless of which may apply to your particular scenario, however, the chance to experience something fun and truly original is quite likely an opportunity that is met with universal appeal.
Trolley Tours of the city (or Duck Boat Tours in the Charles, depending on the season), photo snapshot sessions of the family at the Cheers Pub, strolling through the infamous Harvard University Harvard Yard... These are all important pieces of Boston history and culture, don't get me wrong, and without a doubt worth while to experience during your stay.
But let us not forget about the cultural identity of Boston that is characterized by such events as performance art, comedy shows, and almost but not quite Broadway Theatre? Sure, live entertainment happens everywhere but believe it or not the city of Boston is home to a great many number of performing arts groups and events that you may very rarely be able to witness elsewhere.
One such unique Boston based event is titled A Night at the Rock Opera and consists of a loud and lively rock'n'roll extravaganza at the Stuart Street Playhouse in Downtown Boston.
The star musical talent of A Night at the Rock Opera, known collectively as the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra (URO) present a showcase of some of the best known and highest chart topping classic rock tunes that played a key role in shaping the social and political environment of the 1970s.
In a two hour concert performance the 19 Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra members pay tribute to such rock'n'roll icons as The Beatles, Queen, David Bowie and The Who with a showcase of song, dance and instrumental demonstrations that are likely to have you dancing out of your seat and singing your heart out in sweet nostalgia.
A Night at the Rock Opera is not your typical cover show.
A concert attendee featured on the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra's promo page describes the A Night at the Opera show as "a party on stage". Another suggests matter-of-factly: (This is) "a show that cannot be missed".
A Night at the Rock Opera is now playing every weekend, both Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm at the Stuart Street Playhouse, 200 Stuart Street, Boston 02116. More specifically, look for the Playhouse within the Radisson Hotel, Theatre District (Downtown Boston) location.
All ages are welcome and tickets are $39.50.
Tickets may be purchased in person at the Stuart Street Playhouse (200 Stuart Street in Radisson Hotel, Theatre District, Boston) during box office hours. Or alternatively, you can get them by phone (800-447-7400) or by visiting the Tele-charge website .
For further information regarding A Night at the Opera or the Stuart Street Playhouse performance venue, see the Stuart Street Playhouse official website.

Post a CommentVery good article, Lori. Your writing style in this article is enjoyable to read. Small world, today I had a meeting with the editor / publisher of several small Hartford area newspapers. He opened a copy of the East Hartford Gazette to a full - page article about Christie Beaulieu from East Hartford, who is a vocalist with the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra. He told me that the show is excellent. I just read the article a few minutes ago and it says the show is going on the road soon. It sounds great and I like the name Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra.
