ABOUT RITA'S WATER ICE
Less than 25 years old, Rita's Water Ice has the feel of an old fashioned ice cream shop but with the spin of Italian ice. Headquartered in Trevose, Pennsylvania, Rita's Water Ice is a chain of franchises which offers frozen treats including its famous Italian Ice along with old-fashioned frozen custard and layered gelati. Rita's Water Ice was originally developed by the Tumolo family in Bensalem, Pennsylvania in 1984 and five years later the family franchised its stores. In 2005, Rita's Water Ice was purchased by venture capitalists to help expand the operations to over 1,500 locations by 2,010. Rita's Water Ice was named one of the Top 25 Franchise High Performers by the Wall Street Journal's 'Startup Journal".
