If you are a fan of American history, you probably have more than just a passing interest in Presidents' Day which is coming up fast. On Presidents' Day or Presidents Day, many American citizens and residents honor two of the greatest presidents in the history of the United States of America.

In addition to recognizing the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, Presidents' Day also celebrates the life and achievements of George Washington. Here are some tips and suggestions for having great fun while honoring the history and legacy of George Washington, the first president of the United States.

According to Wikipedia, Presidents' Day is often though not always deemed to celebrate both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The holiday is celebrated on the third Monday of February. In 2010, the date of Presidents' Day is February 15.

George Washington is generally regarded as the father of our country, in part because he was our first president and because he was a commander in the American Revolutionary War. For more information on the celebrated life of this great leader, visit Wikipedia's page on George Washington.

The White House also has a great Web page on George Washington, who was president of the U.S.A. from 1789 to 1797. Also, make sure to visit mountvernon.org to find out more information on George Washington's estate and gardens.

If you have a young child in school who is learning about George Washington, you may be able to help enhance the learning about this president with some fun costumes, outfits, hats and props that can make learning fun.

Saving money is always a good thing.

If you want to find some low-cost costumes to help spread the fun of Presidents' Day, check out Amazon.com for a large selection of George Washington costumes and outfits. If price is your main concern, check out this link for some lower-priced Amazon.com costumes of George Washington.

The best thing about a George Washington costume or outfit is the fact that it can be used more than once. You can wear it on Presidents' Day, of course, but then you can also use it on Halloween.

If people remember that you wore it earlier in the year, just tell them that the George Washington costume you wore on Presidents' Day was for the work he did in his first term as president, and the costume you are wearing on Halloween is for his accomplishments in his second term.

Remember to have lots of fun celebrating the life and great accomplishments of George Washington. If you have children, use this as a chance to teach them as much as you can about the presidents of the United States of America.
