The festivities start at 7am with Breakfast with Santa. The guest of honor, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus, dine amongst the children and their families, and then go on to hold a photo session. We have enjoyed this tradition for the last two years. One year you were able to purchase package pictures like you would at any mall, but last year they only allowed you to purchase buttons displaying the picture. This seemed to help the line move much more quickly, so I am sure they will keep it this way this year. Don't forget, there is a minimal charge for breakfast itself, in the past it has been $5 for adults and $3 per child.
Breakfast is over at 11, but don't plan on going straight home. The city blocks off the streets and the local artists set up booths to show their wares. Last year they had a large tent in which people competed in an ice sculpting contest. You were able to get up close and personal as these amazing people made reindeer and angels come alive. On a stage outside local school children preformed Christmas carols, and dance clubs showed their moves.
If this doesn't seem like quite your style, maybe you would prefer the Motorcycle Toy Run. For a new unwrapped toy valued at $10, you can join in the fun and cut a path through Lewisville showing off both your Christmas Spirit and that bike that you never get to ride enough. You can register on site at American Eagle Harley-Davidson Buell in Corinith at 5920 S I-35E, from 9am to 1130. At noon you will leave to make your way to Old Town and join in on the rest of the fun.
If you are worried about leaving Fido at home, bring him along. Tailwaggers Ranch will be holding many activities for you and your fur babies, including a cake walk! You can have you pet microchipped for a small fee, or even have a professional picture taken with your best friend. If you happen to be looking for a new life partner, local rescue groups will be on hand with many adoptable pets.
Now if this doesn't seem like enough, you're in for a treat. The city hosts a parade starting at 3pm. Everyone from the Mayor, to the Fighting Farmerettes, to Santa himself makes an appearance. The parade route starts at the corner of Main St and Cowan and continues to Mill St and Purnell.
Come on out and join the fun. If you are having some bah humbug feelings and still not over that Thanksgiving feast from last week, this is sure to get you in the Christmas Spirit.

Post a CommentHow cute. Sounds like fun. :)
Some 20 years ago, my daughters participated in the first "breakfast with Santa" Saturday morning in Lewisville...What a memorable day! I especially appreciated the community charities that benefitted from the event - It grew tremendously each year. I am thrilled to hear it is still going on today.
