Celebrate! Rejoice!

Reflect on your worst dream, or your worst night ever. Spirits are low, then all of a sudden you get the news that will change your life forever.

For several slaves that news came on June 19, 1865, when the passing of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the Texas citizens.

What would you do? How would you react?

Upon hearing the news that slavery had been abolished, many former slaves headed North, and to nearby states to reconnect with their long lost relatives.

Jubilee and Praises.

It is no doubt that the news of freedom was well received by the former slaves.

Being free signaled a whole new life of choices and dreams.

June 19th, or Juneteenth, as it's commonly called, is still the day that we celebrate the freedom of the last legal slaves.

Although, Texas is the only state where Juneteenth is an official holiday, many cities throughout the United States celebrate Juneteenth.

We celebrate Juneteenth to acknowledge our history, and to celebrate current and future achievements in the African American community.

Juneteenth is America's 2nd Independence Day celebration. 26 states recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday or state holiday observance, as well as the Congress of the United States.

Together we will see Juneteenth become a national holiday in Amemrica!

Well, now Moe ~ Since Texas values Juneteenth enough to make it a holiday, shall we go ahead and get the ball started to lobby for Juneteenth to be declared a holiday all over our USA? What do ya think? Get back to me with some feedback.
