15th Annual shamROCK 2011
Benefiting the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation, shamRock will be celebrating its 15 year. This fun event takes place on March 17th, starting at 4 p.m. until midnight, in the Gaslamp district. Expect lots of live entertainment including Irish music, step dancers, DJ's and go-go dancers to name a few along with plenty of green beer. Hardy party-goers can take advantage of the Designated Driver program offering free rides for tipsy guests to anywhere in San Diego county. Tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event.
31st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade
With over 150 parade participants, San Diego's St. Patrick's Day Parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. on March 12, 2011 from Fifth Avenue and Juniper Street in Balboa Park. Parade goers will be entertained by floats, high school marching bands, equestrian units, police and scout troops, bagpipe performers, dancing and much more. After taking in the parade, make sure to head over to the Irish Festival also taking place at Balboa Park.
St. Patrick's Day Irish Festival
The Irish Festival is held at Balboa Park and begins at 9 a.m. on March 12, 2011 and is a fun family activity. This free event will feature live entertainment on two stages including bagpipes and drums, folk rock groups, Irish bands, and groups playing Celtic music to name a few. There will be plenty of food and craft booths as well as two beer gardens featuring Guinness beer. Don't miss the Kids Zone where children can play many different carnival-type games, ride llamas, have their faces painted plus more. The Irish Festival has something for everyone and is a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
