Celebrate St Patrick's Day in Atlanta, Georgia

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day in the city of Atlanta can be a fun and entertaining experience. St Patrick's Day parties are planned in several Irish establishments such as Fado's Irish Pub, The Limerick and Meehan's, as well as the the city's 2009 Atlanta St Patrick's Day Parade.

Fado Irish Pub, located at 279 Buckhead Avenue, will be having two St. Patrick's day parties this year. The first one will be on Friday March 13th. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the St. Baldrick's Charity Event. The party starts are 7 PM with DJ Jeff Maxon. The second party, on Tuesday March 17th, is an all day affair. They will open up at 7 AM for an early breakfast of "Kegs and Eggs". Beginning at 12 noon until 12 midnight, there will be a street party with Irish dancing, traditional Irish food, and live music.

Meehan's, located at 227 Sandy Springs Place in Sandy Springs, a suburb of Atlanta, also has two celebrations planned. On Saturday March 14th, their Shamrock & Roll Fest will feature DJ Moneyshot broadcasting live along with live music from Nic Cowan, Critty Upchurch, Francisco Vidal Band and Sister Hazel. On Tuesday March 17th, the celebration begins at 10 AM and continues to closing with live music throughout the day from Turnstile and Astral Weeks.

The Limerick Junction Irish Pub, on 822 N. Highland Avenue, will be hosting their 22nd Annual St. Patrick's Celebration and Block Party on Tuesday March 17th. . The party starts inside the pub with live music from Chris Ricker and Galen Crader beginning at 12 noon. Outdoors, behind the pub, a huge block party will begin at 4 PM with live music from The Laura Dees band, The Stooge Brothers and The Kevin Lewis band. Irish beer and traditional Irish food will be available both indoors and outdoors.

The 2009 Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade, the 127th one in 151 years, will begin at 12 noon on Saturday March 14th. The parade will begin at the intersection of Ralph McGill Boulevard and Peachtree Street and will end by passing through Underground to Martin Luther King Drive, and will feature floats, bands, bagpipes, Irish dancers, clowns, drill teams, antique cars and more. Parade organizers predict that this parade will draw a significantly larger crowd than previous St Patrick's Day parades.
