There's an old Irish saying, "If you're enough lucky to be Irish, you're lucky enough!" On St. Patrick's day more than those with Irish heritage like to pretend there's a little bit of Irish in all of us. If you're planning on celebrating St. Patrick's Day in New York this year, here's some great events you'll want to take in.

249th St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York
The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade was first held on March 17, 1762 and continues its strong tradition today. This is a true marchers parade as the parade committee allows no floats or cars as entrants. The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade is held annually in honor of the Patron Saint of Ireland. The parade steps off at 11 a.m., heading up Fifth Avenue past the majestic St. Patrick's Cathedral, past the Metropolitan Museum of Art and past the American Irish Historical Society, concluding near 83rd Street to 86th street. The parade usually finishes its run around 5 p.m. Parade entrants include: bagpipe troupes; marching bands; celebrities and more bands. An estimated 2 million people plan to be in attendance along the parade route. For more information, go here.

12th Annual Luck of the Irish St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl 2010
This New York event is the largest pub crawl and is actually listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The St. Patrick's Day pub crawl covers five miles, over three days, and 100 bars. What better way to see all the Irish pubs in New York City. Plus the beer is cheap! You'll find Bud and Bud Light drafts for only $1; Bud and Bud light bottles for $2; well drinks for $3; and $4 Jameson shots. The pub crawl starts on Friday, March 12th, continues on Saturday the 13th and concludes on St. Patrick's day, March 17th. Admission tickets are required at a price of $30 per person for the three day all access pass. Tickets for individual days are available as well. For specific information, go here.

11th Annual All-star Irish Rock Revue
Celebrating it's 11th year, the Irish Rock Revue will be performing this St. Patrick's Day in New York City on March 13th at the Highline Ballroom. This highly acclaimed musical event draws performers from all genres of music putting their spin on songs from The Great Irish Songbook, backed by The Revue's amazing All-Star band. Previous guest performers have included: Bruce Springsteen; Patti Smith Band; The High Kings; The New York Dolls; Cracker; The Crystals LaLa Brooks; and Susan Mckeown to name a few. This year's All-Star band members include: MD Jon Spurney; Mark Bosch (Ian Hunter); Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith); Kenny Margolis (Cracker); Megan Weeder (Mellencamp); Downtown's Tish & Snooky; Stan Harrison (Bowie and Radiohead); plus many more. If you're into music, this is definitely the event to attend. For more information, go here.

St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York
While no St. Patrick's Day events will be happening at the cathedral-other than scheduled services and mass-why not stop in to see this unbelievably stunning landmark named after St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The cathedral was first opened in 1858 to replace the original St. Patrick's Cathedral that is used today as a parish church. The cathedral has been restored many times over the years to keep its beautiful architecture flawless. The New York cathedral has been the site for many celebrity weddings including Liza Minnelli and David Guest as well as funerals including Babe Ruth, Robert F. Kennedy, Andy Warhol, Joe DiMaggio and Vince Lombardi. Over 3 million visitors come to St. Patrick's cathedral each year. Self guided tours are available between services.
