Celebrate New Year's Eve with Your Family

Michael Tveter
I honestly do love to celebrate New Year's even around thousands of people in a crowded city, but if you have a family of small children that may be a different story.

Celebrating New Year's Eve at home with the children is safe, fun and less stressful to drag the kids all over town. Here I will be showing you some memorable ideas to help your family enjoy this New Year's Eve.

Decorations

When decorating your house, be sure to involve the kids in most of the sticking and posting of signs, confetti, and so forth.

Costumes

Creating a costume with glitter, funny hats, and anything else to make yourself look goofy will really lighten up the party. You can also assign a theme for each of your children to dress as. Some may dress as a hippie, an astronaut, or anything else that is involved in a particular dress in some type of decade.

Games and Prizes

There is a very educational game that the children would enjoy is to "Name that Time line." You create a big list of simple questions of events though out the decade or century and name the year that the even happened. You can give out prizes related to the answer to the question.

Time Capsule or Scrapbooking

Get an igloo or some type of weather proof container and gather things around the house that are memorable of your past year. Gather things such as news papers, quotes, pictures, clothes, magazines, or family videos. Seal up your family capsule and open it the following year for your family to look through.

You can also make a little scrapbook looking back on all the little events that you have done with your family for this past year.

The goal is to be creative, with lots of family involvement, and longed memories. Doing this will bring your family closer together this new years eve.
