Sure there are fireworks in Denver on the 4th of July. There's also a lot more. There's several fun festivals, an awesome Red Rocks concert, a parade and all kinds of things to do while you're waiting for those fireworks. Not sure what to do in Denver for the 4th? If you're just looking for fireworks, consult your local paper. If you're looking for more read on.
Celebrate the 4th of July the old fashioned way at Four Mile Historic Park. You'll be joined by actors playing famous historical figures. Four Mile House is a place where you can go back in time to see how times have changed. This is a wonderful way to show kids how the 4th of July was originally celebrated. Plenty of food and fun for everyone from Grandpas to toddlers.
The Cherry Creek Arts Festival isn't just for grown-ups. Stop by on July 4th for Activity Avenue. It's a block sized kids area where they don't just paint your face and send you packing. Adults will love the chance to meet with artists and see their best work. Denver restaurants get in on the fun on Culinary Avenue where you can taste local cuisine. Don't forget to pay a visit to the Cultural Pavillion for a sampling of global art forms.
Red Rocks is featuring Blues Traveler on July 4th 2011. Appearing with them are Matisyahu and Toad the Wet Sprocket. If you've never seen a concert at Red Rocks, here's your golden opportunity staring you right in the face. It's a beautiful open air amphitheater carved from natures splendor. I'm betting the view of fireworks shows all over Denver is awesome up there on the rocks.
Speaking of nature, how about some natural fireworks? Head to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science planetarium on July 4th. Whoopi Goldberg is hosting a special planetarium show entitled Journey to the Stars. What? You've never seen a planetarium show either? Picture a gigantic rounded dome ceiling with lights out and stars exploding all around you. It'll put that fireworks display to shame. Plus it's more environmentally friendly.
You gotta love those mini vehicles at the Shriners parade. Combine them with the 4th of July and it gets even better. Head for downtown Denver for this fun event, then head home for your annual backyard cookout. After the sun sets, it's time to head for your favorite fireworks display. Better yet, avoid the parking wars. Spend the day at the Olde Town Arvada Spirit of America Festival. Watch the fireworks light the skies from there. Stay and chat with family after the show to avoid the crazy exiting traffic.
