Gather up some pictures of your mother and father or even the whole family. Make a scrapbook or photo album and start if off with the oldest picture you have of your mother and father. Try and find one from when they first met and then start from the earliest time in their relationship to the last days of their marriage. Take one of her favorite pictures of your father and put it on the front of the scrapbook or photo album. Your mother will be going through emotions at this time. Giving her something to bring back all the memories she had with your father would be a great gift.
Take her out to dinner on father's day and then maybe a visit to the cemetery to plant some flowers or a small tree around your father's grave. Then you may hand her the scrapbook or photo album you have made for her. Take her back home and stay with her for a while and just talk about the good times. Even talking with your mother and going through some of your father's things. Just making it a day for her and letting her know that she is loved and you feel her pain. Having someone else around while you both are going through this hard time will make it easier on the both of you.
If you were someone who has lost his or her mother, it would be a good idea to do something for your father on father's day and mother's day. Remembering the good times your father and mother had while she was alive. Making him a scrapbook or photo album of him and your mother would be a nice gift. It would be something he could always look through when he was having a hard time dealing with the death of your mother.
Although, even if you have lost your mother or father, that should not stop you from celebrating mother's day or father's day. You should still celebrate and have those memories. One of the worst feelings is losing a parent, so you should always do things to remember the times you had together.
