Celebrating National Volunteer Week

April 19th - 25th is National Volunteer Week. The theme this year is "Celebrating People in Action".

National Volunteer Week was established by Point of Light and Hands on Network, to recognize the countless volunteers at the local, state, and non-profit levels.

Each year volunteers are recognized and honored with the Presidents Volunteer Service Award. If you want to nominate a person visit the Volunteer Resource webpage.

How to start?

Find a cause you care about and look for resources. For example, The Quaker Go Project gives grants in the amount of $500 to individuals who develop community projects to help combat hunger. For an application, visit their site. There will be 20 winners each month up to August. In addition, Quaker Oats has a Feed Yourself Feed Others campaign, which allows customers to enter a UPC code from any Quaker Oats brand, and Quaker will donate 10 servings of Quaker Oats products up to 1 million servings until December.
