Celebrating Valentines' Day when You Are Single

Loving Yourself is Not Narcissistic . . . I Think!

Are you dreading Valentines' Day because you are single? A lot of people feel the same way. People who are single during Valentines' Day tend to feel sorry for themselves and maybe a little jealous of their friends who are in a relationship. Those of course are normal feelings that most single people have around holidays like Valentines' Day.

However, it's time to stop feeling sorry for yourself. Realize that jealousy gets you nowhere and there's not really a reason to be jealous any way. Everyone has problems, even people who aren't single. Besides, just because you're single doesn't mean you can't celebrate Valentines' Day and have a great time doing it.

How about throwing a singles dinner party? You could invite your single friends over for a dinner party and even include a $20 gift exchange if you want! Or you could make it a single-girls only slumber party. Invite your best girls and make some margaritas. Don't forget the makeovers they are the best part of any sleep over. If you're in more of a party mood you could always hit up your favorite dance club!

Being around your friends and not sitting in the house feeling lonely will help you get over the fact you are single, but a girl still likes to feel pampered on Valentines' Day. Treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure. Maybe even throw in a massage. Don't stop there though; you can't have great hands and feet without great hair. A new cut or color will always make you feel like a new person.

Even if you're on a tight budget, don't skip the pampering. Take a nice hot bubble bath and make sure you add scented oils to relax you. When you're finished with your relaxing bath, give yourself a manicure and pedicure. You can still pull out all the stops with limited cash, you just have to be a little creative.

Lastly, don't forget your Valentines' Day gift. Go out and get yourself something special. A new outfit, purse, or shoes will make a great Valentines' Day present to yourself. After all, loving yourself is just as important as loving someone else. That's why even if you are single; you deserve a great Valentines' Day.
