Traditionally, New Years Eve will be spent with close friends enjoying food and champagne. Traditional foods will include marzipan ring cakes, New Years cod, and other Danish dishes. The evening will end with the watching of fireworks and the Queen's Speech on television.
Copenhagen, Denmark will be full of people waiting for the town clock to strike twelve bringing in the New Year. This is similar to the ball dropping in New York. Many people will be gathered together ready to light their fireworks after the clock strikes midnight. Be careful because the fireworks will be going off from all directions inside of the crowd. This event is also televised and has become a major part of celebrating New Years Eve in Denmark.
Fireworks in Tivoli Gardens are another way of celebrating New Years Eve in Denmark. In fact, they offer a full five day festival of fireworks right after Christmas and all the way through New Years Eve. Of coarse you can see these fireworks throughout the year; however they change the show according to the season so it is always fresh and exciting. The fireworks are also accompanied by music which makes the event even sweeter.
If you prefer a more explosive fireworks show, you might also enjoy the fireworks at the Experimentarium. This fireworks display includes a lot of gun powder, loud noises, and even rockets. Still, this show is great for children and their parents. The show lasts a little over half an hour and is a great way of celebrating New Years Eve in Denmark.
If you want something more than just a good fireworks show, than you may also want to try one of the hotels in Denmark. Many of the fancy hotels in Denmark offer a whole night of different events including gambling, fine dinning, fireworks, music, disco, and breakfast or brunch on New Year's day.
One of these hotels includes the Hotel Hilton Copenhagen Airport which offers a nice brunch on New Year's Day. It also includes the Radison Scandinavian Hotel which offers both disco and gambling. In addition, Admiral Hotel offers orchestra music and a great view of the fireworks. However, these are just a few of the grand hotels offering a variety of great dinning, music, and grand events.
