Fireworks, food and fun abound in rural Illinois this year. Among some of the best fireworks displays to be seen in the night sky this 3rd or 4th of July are in East Central Illinois. Traditionally on July 4th as Americans we commemorate our independence and freedom. It is a day of jubilation and partying in celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Read and learn more about the Declaration of Independence at http://www.archives.gov/national-archives-experience/charters/declaration.html . Getting in touch with our roots and history is really what the Fourth of July stands for. The following are just few of the thousands of events honoring that day in history.

From the Lighted Night Parade in Orion, Illinois to the self-proclaimed "Best Fireworks Display in the Area" at Prophetstown, Illinois. Exciting to kids of all ages, the fourth of July celebration comes in all shapes and sizes. Hooppole, Illinois starts early with their annual Hooppole Fun Days with a parade at 10:00 a.m., June 30th. Also during the day in Hooppole will be fun for kids of all ages: A cake walk, penny scramble, paper plate toss, pool tournament and pie judging. At 11:00 a.m. is a (believe it or not) Frog Jumping and Toad Race! (Bring your own frog or toad!)

The food is always yummy at the Prophetstown, Illinois fun day on the Fourth of July. Among the events of the day will be live music and games for kids. Following is a list of Fourth of July Fireworks Events in Henry County, Illinois. In Geneseo, Illinois, after watching the fireworks on the night of July 3rd, in Richmond Hill park, head for Central Park, on the 4th, and have some delicious pork chops or patties and all the trimmings.
