Celebratory Baby Shower Ideas to Make Moms-to-Be Feel Special

Showering a mommy-to-be is a great way to make her feel like she is very loved and special. Many times, though, the mommy gets put on the back burner and the desires and wishes of the well-intentioned mother, mother -in-law, or sister become the priority. After all, the purpose of the baby shower is to shower her with gifts and love and to celebrate the new little bundle of joy that is on his or her way. Gifts that are practical and have thought put into them are usually the most appreciated. The gifts that are cute, but realistically never going to be used can stay on the shelf at the store. If you are a mom yourself, think back to what your favorite gift was......if not best bet is to follow a registry to ensure it is something the mommy needs.

Another suggestion is to plan the shower according to what the mommy likes and enjoys. For instance I have been to many showers that were at fancy restaurants or lavish banquet halls. A woman who is very pregnant usually wants access to a restroom and a relaxing afternoon with friends and family. The last thing she wants is to have to entertain many unfamiliar guests or sit in an uncomfortable chair in a noisy restaurant. Intentions are always well meant, but everyone gets excited about a new baby and buying gifts for the precious addition.

Here are a few things to try when planning a baby shower for your loved one to ensure she actually enjoys it!

1) Seating - Whether you are in your home, backyard, or restaurant, make sure there is something very, very comfortable for your guest of honor to sit in. The shower is meant make her feel like a queen, so why not provide her with a throne. Even a foot rest would be welcomed by most women. Most restaurants would probably not mind if you brought along your own comfy chair. It may be inconvenient for you, but she will thank you.

2) Food - Depending on each woman's pregnancy the food may be a big deal. If she has been suffering from horrible morning sickness then you might want to skip a heavy meal. A lighter fare like various salads, fruit or nice sandwiches is much easier on the stomach. The simple sight of certain foods can make a pregnant woman sick. So try to find out your mommy to be food aversions if any. Not to mention there may be a craving or treat that the mommy needs, providing it for her may be a nice comfort.

3) Gifts - Everyone loves shopping for the new little one, but not many like sitting through the very, very long task of watching mommy opening her gifts. One way to make this easier for the guests and mommy to bear, is requesting no wrapping - or clear wrapping. Provide a nice table to display gifts on that way everyone can peek at the gifts when they want to and time is not spent wasted opening gifts. Showers these days are nothing but watching the mommy open gifts and this can be boring for guests and difficult for a mommy with a pregnant belly. Your guests will thank you.

4) Personal Touches - When planning an event like a baby shower it is a good idea to keep it personal and remember why you are there. You are celebrating the mommy and her new baby to be. Things like displaying baby pictures of the daddy and mommy to be when they were babies is a great way to make it special. Decorating with the mommy's favorite color rather than pink or blue is a nice change to keep it original. Any special touches that make it different and unique will make it the best shower and create memories that last forever.

These few things will make the shower you are throwing a sure hit with your guests and most important the mommy to be. She will thank you for all your thought and consideration and have a wonderful and relaxing time.
