Celebrities Representing Ohio

Earlier I shared an article, about famous people from Cleveland, with the AC faithful. I was stunned by many of the names appearing on the list. Ladies and gentleman, hold onto your socks and get ready for more. This is an in-depth view of people from the Ohio heartland. Of course, I will omit the names of the people from Cleveland, since I have already shared them with you.

Warren Gamaliel Harding became the 29th president of the United States on March 4, 1921. He had a heart attack and died August 2, 1923, while in office.
He was from Morrow County.

William Howard Taft served as the 27th president of the United States from 1908 to 1912. He came from Cincinnati.

Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president of the United States from 1888 to 1892. He was from North Bend.

William McKinley served as the 25th president of the United States from 1897 to 1901, when he was assassinated. He was from Niles.

Rutherford B. Hayes was the United States 19th president, holding office from 1877 to 1881. He hailed from Delaware, Ohio.

Ulysses Simpson Grant was our country's 18th president from 1869 to 1877. He was from Point Pleasant.

William Jennings Bryan never reached the oval office, though he was a three time Democratic nominee. Was perhaps most famous for his involvement in the Scopes Trial during the summer of 1925. He was from Salem.

Albert Jeremiah Beveridge was a famous United States senator representing Indiana. He was born in Highland, Ohio.

Jerry Springer was the mayor of Cincinnatti before making it big with his scandalous television show.

Clarence Seward Darrow was another famed attorney involved in the Scopes Trial. He came from Kingsman.

Tecumseh is one of the most revered indian chiefs ever. He was a chief of the Shawnee tribe in the 1800's, from Oldtown.

George Armstrong Custer is famous for his last stand at Little Big Horn. He was from New Rumley.

William Tecumseh Sherman is most well known with his association in the Armor Divisions of the military. He represented Lancaster.

Arthur Meier Schlesinger is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winning historian from Columbus.

Wilbur and Orville Wright are the founding fathers of flight. They were from Dayton.

Neal Armstrong became the first person to step on the moon. He was born in Wapakoneta.

John Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth. He was from Cambridge.

Judith Resnick was the second female astronaut to go into space. The country wept when she died in the Challenger accident. She was from Akron.

Eddie Rickenbacker was a famous pilot from Columbus.
