Have you heard about Twitter recently in the news? Lately it has become a recent story on various news programs and entertainment magazines. Twitter is a website that lets you send a text message to everyone who has signed up and follows you online.

Some celebrities who twitter include Ashton Kutcher (aplusk) , Demi Moore (mrskutcher), Sherri Sheperd (SherriESheperd), Kelly Ripa (KellyRipa), Sam Champion from Good Morning America (SamChampion), Al Roker (alroker1), Jimmy Fallon (jimmyfallon), Tina Fey (TinaFey), John Mayer (johncmayer), Britney Spears (britneyspears) and Soeil Moon Frye (moonfrye). The names in parenthesis are the celebrities twitter names.

Ashton, Demi, John Mayer and Jimmy Fallon updated regularly, most of the time they update multiple times a day.

A few weeks ago, Demi and Ashton were with Bruce Willis and Ashton sent a twitter update telling all members who follow him that Bruce would be taking that night. All followers were able to ask questions via Twitter. Bruce would respond to those questions. I asked what his favorite movie was. Bruce's response was Goodfellas. It was really neat to interact with them.

Britney Spears sent out Twitter updates prior to her concert. She sent an update with a link to her set list for her Circus Tour. She also send an update when she was boarding the private jet to travel from California to Louisiana a few days before her opening night.

You can also follow television shows. Some of the more popular ones are The Today Show (todayshow), Good Morning America (GMA) and The View (theviewtv). They routine send updated with regards to upcoming segments on their shows.

You can also follow such shows as CNN for up to date news. If you follow CNN Breaking News (cnnbrk), you receive any breaking news alerts.

Another great entity to follow is Amber Alert (amberalert). When an amber alert is issued, you will receive a Twitter update advising of all information that is available.

You can follow local news in your hometown. I follow the local news program, the local newspaper and even the governor in my home state of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal (BobbyJindal).

This is a great technology that is quickly taking off. It is easy to enroll and takes minimum time. Your updates (or any you receive) are limited to 140 characters. John Mayer once twittered saying that when your twitter is exactly 140 works, there should be a prize.

You should check it out and start Twittering today !

Excellent highlights on the lighter side of twitter, and I'm sure many are unaware about the Amber Alert.

I become a 'twitter critter' only several weeks ago, & I'm amazed at just how powerful it is. It may not be as informative as Facebook, but the speed and fun factor are way up there. Any service so easy to use is very attractive to all. Here's my first article on Twitter: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1557357/my_twitter_war_with_hal_sparks_because.html?cat=9
