Week eight airing on May 2, 2010 brought teams Rock Solid (Bret Michaels, Maria Kanellis, and Sharon Osbourne) and Tenacity (Summer Sanders, Holly Robinson Peete, Cindy Lauper, and Curtis Stone) to the staging area and assigns each team to the task of delivering two live 30 seconds radio spots for Clockwork Home Service, parent group to Benjamin Franklin Punctual Plumber, Mr. Sparky Electricians & 1 Hour Heating and Air Conditioning.
Bret Michaels was named project manager for Team Rock Solid. The team met with corporate executive that made clear in no uncertain terms that there was to be no risky humor tied to their companies especially the plumbing company. Bret Michaels, always edgy to push the humor envelope crossed the line in his proposal for the spots indicating to Sharon and Maria that if it went down wrong, he would fall on his sword and take the hit for the team.
Summer Sanders was named project manager for Team Tenacity. Sanders began with a clear vision to provide exactly what corporate executives laid out even against the feeling of Curtis who though their radio spots could be a bit more edgy.
Cindy Lauper consistently is a challenge to Tenacity with her whiny accent and pouting ways even though she always seems to know what she is doing. She insists she will do the singing voice over even though Summer is not sure. Summer waffles. Cindy performs well even though she had a bit a of a throat problem.
When executives observed Rock Solid's radio spots they were clearly impressed with Michaels and wanted him in their company but were not pleased he had taken a risk established as off limits. Rock Solid's spot were moving and energized.
When executives observed Tenacity's presentation, they appeared bored and had little to say. Tenacity's spots had come off well but had no energy that would set them apart from other radio spots.
In the board room, the "Don" Ald arrives looking grumpy as usual and begins to prompt a summary report of each team. Team Project Managers, Summer and Bret suggest they feel good about their production and they believe their team has been successful.
Projects are reviewed. Trump aides comment on corporate executives' assessments and a weekly winner is announced. Corporate executives have seemed not to appreciate Rock Solid but communicated they liked their work and would be running their spots. Team Rock Solid wins and Bret Michaels is awarded the $20,000 for his charity, the American Diabetes Association (Sponsor of Camps for Kids with Diabetes). Rock Solid is congratulated and dismissed. Team Tenacity prepares to lose a member, likely the Project Manager, Summer Sanders.
Trump begins to push hard for the weakest link on Team Tenacity. Holly, Curtis and Cindy scramble to stay in the game. Summer lets Holly off the hook and she is dismissed.
When Summer and Curtis wrangle for who should be allowed to stay in the competition, the Donald declares, "Summer, you're fired. Summer takes her walk and limo ride of shame expressing her feelings about being fired.
The Celebrity Apprentice rolls on demonstrating this is not a competition for the weak or the timid. Bring your "A" Game or be weak and prepare to be fired. This is Survivor well groomed dressed in business clothes ready to play down and dirty to succeed. Bret Michaels is in this game and may be well positioned to win.
