Family Matters More Than Money to the Latest Reality Show Winner

After an exciting three-hour finale, Donald Trump finally proclaimed Joan Rivers the Celebrity Apprentice 2009 winner by saying the words she so longed to hear, "You're hired." Rivers beat out professional poker player Annie Duke, her heated rival throughout the contemptuous second season.

Appearing today on LIVE with Regis and Kelly, comedian Joan Rivers explained that she never actually left the show, but merely walked off the set after her daughter Melissa was so hurt by being fired in an earlier episode. Rivers went on to say that "Family comes first" and that she felt compelled to support her daughter after being fired by Donald Trump.

Although the final boardroom debate was riddled with pot shots from both finalists, Moms across America were secretly routing for Joan to defeat two-faced, sharp tongued Annie. Plus, what Mom wouldn't do exactly what Joan did to support our child? Yes, winner Joan Rivers said hurtful things, but it seemed less poisonous coming from a comedian. Annie Duke came across as simply mean. Although Joan Rivers raised only one-third of that raised by her rival, Rivers was still crowned the winner. This proves that money isn't everything in life. Joan had better celebrities, better guest appearance and better brand integration, thus winning 3-2 on her charity fundraiser.

Congratulations to Joan Rivers. Your tenacity and courage to do the right thing placed you ahead of the other 16 competitors. Relish in the day and bask in accolades for a job well done.
