Celebrity Cast I Would like to See on Dancing with the Stars

Wendy Dawn
It looks like there is a definite pattern or formulate to choosing a good cast for Dancing with the Stars (DWTS). It takes a couple of aging celebrities to draw in the aging population. Then DWTS needs a couple of young stars. Of course there are the football stars, a couple of newsmakers, and then they can fill up the dance floor with a couple of has-beens or wanna-bes.

Just this week Dancing with the Stars announced their cast for the fall Season 11. It made me think about who I would put on DWTS and the potential ratings they would pull.

Older Celebrities I Would Like to See on Dancing with Stars
DWTS definitely appeals to baby boomers and they like to see someone on the show that they recognize. Season 11 welcomes Florence Henderson and David Hasselhoff. If I were in charge of casting I would search for television icons that are well known to old and young viewers, like Florence Henderson.

Andy Griffith, at the age of 84, would pull viewers of every age. Okay, so he is almost ten years older than Florence Henderson, but I'll bet he could shuffle out on stage. Who wouldn't tune in to see what the beloved sheriff of Mayberry and TV father of Opi could do on the dance floor?

Let's hear if for Ja'net Dubois, nosey neighbor Willona Woods on the 70s sitcom Good Times. Janet is a singer and actress and at the age of 65 might still have the potential to tear up the dance floor of the ballroom. Ja'net Dubois has always carried herself with confidence and sass, I say let's see her flaunt it on DWTS.

Young Celebrities I Would Like to See on Dancing with the Stars
I think DWTS scrapped the bottom of the barrel in bringing on Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino for the fall 2010 season. As long as we are in the bottom of the barrel why not bring the spunk and spark of Jersey Shore to DWTS? I'm calling for Snooki to be in a future season of the popular dance floor show.

I'm not sure Snooki can stay sober long enough to work-out with a professional dancer and film a season of the show, but it sure would be interesting to find out. Snooki would definitely draw in viewers and curiosity seekers to drive ratings. I think ABC should give Snooki some serious consideration.

A young male celebrity is easy to pick: Robert Pattinson. He is already one of the hottest commodities on the celebrity market. An appearance by Pattinson on DWTS would shoot ratings through the roof and gain them, at least for a season, an entirely new segment of Vampire fan viewers. It wouldn't hurt Pattinson's popularity, which can already be described as meteoric and might show that he is game to do things that please his fans.

Has Beens and Wanna-Bes I'd Like to See on Dancing with the Stars
I'll bet Dancing with the Stars has people clamoring in this group to be on the show. The choice is easy for me.

I would like to see Jermaine Jackson on the show. He likes to be a talking head on the news at every opportunity, I'd like to see if he has any talent left. He used to dance with the Jackson 5, but he hasn't been much of a producer over the past several years. Put Jermaine Jackson on the ballroom floor and give him the opportunity to prove himself there.

Audrina Patridge has been given the opportunity to star in the fall 2010 season, I can think of a washed-up celebrity who would draw more ratings than Audrina. Put Lindsay Lohan on the stage. Again, it would depend on her showing up clean and sober, but she would have the chance to revive her following and her true sense of celebrity.

Political Figures I would Like to See on Dancing with the Stars.
The most obvious choice for a politically connected person who could star on an upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars is Michelle Obama. I'll bet she could tear up the dance floor.

I know, I know. She'll never appear on the show while her husband is president, but what about when his term is over? DWTS should grab a contract with Michelle Obama to grab the nation's attention. We know she likes to get out and have a good time, she is one of the few first ladies I can actually imagine appearing in the ballroom.

It would be interesting to stir things up a bit by putting a talking head like Sean Hannity opposite Michelle Obama. Besides, we know he can talk and argue, but can Hannity Dance? We don't know, but with a little professional help he might be able to. I suppose the only problem with pulling Hannity would be the conflict with his contract with FOX. Maybe we should go with Rush Limbaugh instead ---- Nah.

This is a little bit like playing fantasy football with Dancing with the Stars, but you have to admit. It is entertaining to imagine who you would like to see on the show. I can also think of several people I would never want to see on the show.

Who would you like to see on the next season of Dancing with the Stars?

I love the show but marvel at some of the dumb choices. But I really like it for the professional dancers too. I fell sorry for them when they get a real loser like Tony did last year. I'd love to see Andy Griffeth.

I'm hoping they call it quits after this season.
