Celebrity Chief Paula Deen's Former Housekeeper Arrested for Jewelry Thief

Paula Deen's former housekeeper was arrested for stealing jewelry from her boss. Paula and her husband Michael Grover was easy prey for Mary Alice White (the former housekeeper), much of the couple time was spend traveling. According to Paula Deen and Michael Grover they thought of Mary White "like family."

Mary Alice White work for the chief for nine months, she is believed to have been stealing from Paula since August 1, 2009. Paula and Michael Grover have reported over $100,000 worth of jewelry stolen between August 1, 2009 and May 1, 2010. According to reports Paula was very hurt that Mary was the thief, Paula stated "Mary White is the most feared and destroying kind of thief you may ever run up against. Mary was a master at making you think she cares about you ... She used our love and kindness against us" People Magazine reports.

Mary Alice White pleaded guilty last week in Chatham County Court to disposing of the stolen jewelry from her employers. Mary faced a maximum of 30 years in prison but her defense attorney Bobby Phillips open-end plea to shorten her sentence. Prosecutor Frank Pennington sought ten years and two year served on probation. However Mary was sentence to 18 months in jail, followed by the remainder of the six months on probation. She is also required to repay Paula and Michael Grover $6,000.
