Celebrity Moms Over 35 - How Old is the Daddy?

Valerie Ferrari
Celebrities giving birth after age 35 has become a fairly common occurrence. If the rumors of Mariah Carey's four-month pregnancy at age 40 are confirmed, Mariah will become the latest celebrity to have a child over the age of 35, but let's take a look at the daddies. How many older celebrity moms are married to younger men? Just about as many as are married to older men -- at least on my list:

Younger Daddy

Actress Halle Berry gave birth to a daughter, Nahla, in March 2008 at age 41. Halle is 10 years older than her baby's father, French-Canadian model, Gabriel Aubry. Halle and Gabriel split up in April 2010.

Singer, Madonna gave birth to her first child, Lourdes, at age 38. Madonna is 6 years older than Lourdes' father, Carlos Leon. Madonna later married British producer, Guy Ritchie and gave birth to her second biological child, Rocco, at 41 years of age. Guy Ritchie is 10 years younger than Madonna. The Ritchies adopted a boy named David from Malawi and later got divorced. Madonna also adopted a girl named Mercy from Malawi and is raising all 4 children as a single mom.

Actress, Mimi Rogers gave birth to two children with boyfriend, Chris Ciaffi, who is 7 years younger than she is. Mimi and Chris welcomed their first child, Lucy, when Mimi was 39. Their son, Charlie, was born when Mimi was 45 in 2001. The couple later married in 2003.

Actress, Lisa Hartman Black, gave birth to her daughter, Lily Pearl, at age 44. Lisa is married to country singer, Clint Black who is 6 years her junior.

Older Daddy

On the other side of the coin, Celine Dion had her first child, Rene-Charles in her early 30s. She is expecting twins at the age of 42 in November 2010. Celine is 26 years younger than her husband and manager, Rene Angelil.

Annette Bening, actress, is 21 years younger than her 73 year old husband Warren Beatty. The couple have 4 children, Kathlyn (born in 1992), Ben (born in 1994), Isabel (born in 1997) and Ella, born in 2000 a month before Annette Bening's 42nd birthday.

Actress, Beverly D'Angelo gave birth to twins, Anton and Olivia, in 2001 when she was 49. The twins' daddy is actor Al Pacino, who is 11 years older than Beverly. The couple split two years later.

The union of rock star, Mick Jagger and supermodel, Jerry Hall, produced 4 children before the couple split up in 1999. Jerry was 27 when she had her first child, Elizabeth in 1984. She had a son, James in 1985 at age 29 (Jerry's own birthday is in July and Elizabeth was born before her 28th birthday, while James was born after her 29th). It wasn't these two children that got Jerry's name into 'older celebrity mom' articles, but she also had Georgia May at age 35 and her youngest, Gabriel, when she was 41. Mick Jagger is 13 years older than Jerry Hall.

Some older mommies are around the same age as the daddies like Jennifer Lopez, who had twins, Emme and Max, at age 38, with her husband, Marc Anthony. Law and Order SVU star, Mariska Hargitay is also close in age to her husband, Peter Hermann. They had their first child, a son named August, when Mariska was 42.

40 year old singer, Gwen Stefani is 4 years younger than her husband, Gavin Rossdale. She has been on the "baby bump" watchlist since May 2010, but has not confirmed that she is expecting as yet . Gwen is the already the mother of 4 year old Kingston and 2 year old Zuma.

Now back to Mariah Carey. She recently sent this message to Showbiz 411: "I appreciate everyone's well wishes. But I am very superstitious. When the time is right, everyone will know - even Cindi Berger [her publicist]."

The last time that everyone thought Mariah Carey might be enceinte, she wasn't and she said so, and she wasn't spotted out and about wearing maternity clothes from A Pea in a Pod either. So although Mariah has her reasons for not confirming her pregnancy as yet, you can pretty much draw your own conclusions from that 411. Mariah will be on the 'Younger Daddy' list. She is married to actor and rapper, Nick Cannon, who is 10 years her junior.

Nice blend Val. Something to be said for having babies later, more assurance and sense of self can only be a good thing for el bebe's.

I had a child at 20, one at 30, and one at 40 - my kids said I was due last year (for my 50th); however, I passed. Some fun info here, Valerie.

Very interesting information, Valerie. I'm too old at 48 to want a child now, but I would like a younger man if I were looking for a husband. Call me a cougar!
