Celebrity Rehab: Lindsay Lohan Jailed, Released on $300,000 Bail & Returned in Rehab for the Holiday's

The number of Hollywood celebrities in trouble with the law appears to have doubled in recent years. The usual suspects found their legal problems stemming for drunken driving offenses or drug related incidents escalating in 2010. Los Angeles courtrooms featured as many celebrity defendants as they are everyday offenders. The wave of celebrities facing jail time has also escalated this year. Celebrities like troubled actress Lindsay Lohan were incarcerated for the first time a series of years of probation violations stemming from a drunken driving offense resulting in her being placed on probation in 2007.

Following the dramatic escalation of the legal woes facing Lohan prior to the Cannes Film Festival 2010, Lohan was ordered to jail. Parole violations leading to Lohan's incarceration included several missed court ordered treatment meetings and a potential missed court date. The 24-year old actress, struggling with her career in the recent years, made an attempt to revive it at the Cannes festival. The appearance in France conflicted with Lohan's court date which led to the starlet making a frantic dash back to the United States to face the consequences of her decisions. The dark haired beauty appeared to clean up her act just in time for the court appearance with a classic new blonde hair color and do.

However, the judge was not impressed and sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail. Lohan suffered a series of lawyer replacements before turning herself into face her sentencing. In the led up to her incarceration, Lohan had successfully passed all of her court ordered drug tests and remained sober. Due to jail overcrowding, the actress spent a total of 14 days behind bars. Following her stay in jail, the actress completed drug rehabilitation treatment before her release. Within weeks of her release from the rehab facility, Lohan reportedly failed two drugs test. After she tested positive for cocaine and Adderall, she once again was ordered to jail.

On September 24, 2010, a handcuffed Lohan was taken into custody to serve 30 day behind bars. One day later, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox overturned the previous ruling and issued Lohan's immediate release day. In addition her release, the judge ordered Lohan to be treated for substance abuse rather than serve more time in jail. Lohan is required to complete 67-day course of counseling, substance abuse meetings, monitoring and drug testing. She was also ordered to never to attend places where alcoholic beverages are sold, never possess any drugs or socialize with any known drug users.

On October 22, Lohan was once again released from rehab to attend her court date. She was ordered to return to rehab for the duration of the year for further treatment and evaluation. The decision to return Lohan to rehab was offered instead of returning the troubled actress back to do more jail time. Lohan will remain in rehab until the New Year and is not expected to be release prior to January 3. Lohan will remain on probation for the entire three years ordered by the previous judge.

"Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night," Lohan
posted on her Twitter Sept. 17. "This is certainly a setback for me but I am taking
responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."
