Celebrity Skins: 4 Celebrities Who Have Novels Written About Them

Victoria Leigh Miller

If you think truth is stranger than fiction, think again. Some of your favorite celebrities have found themselves in the pages of novels-- with results that would never happen in real life.

Check out our rundown of books about celebrities-- and remember, they're in the fiction aisle not in the memoirs section!

"Getting Over Jack Wagner" -- Elise Juska

Who can forget the dreamy Jack Wagner from back in the day, when he played the character of Frisco Jones on "General Hospital?" Wagner had a hit song too, with the soft rock single "All I Need," a ballad that was frequent fodder on "GH" - and he was a frequent cover boy on teen mags of the day. In 2003, author Elise Juska used 1980s teen idol Jack Wagner as the subject of her book about Eliza, a girl who's in search of a real life musician boyfriend. Trouble is, no real guy can live up to the fantasy of Eliza's original rock star crush (you know who!)

"The Locklear Letters"-- Michael Kun

What are the chances? Wagner's soon to be real life wife, Heather Locklear, also has a fictional book written about her-and this one is beyond funny. This "novel in letters" look at celeb worship is narrated by software salesman Sid Straw, a guy who tries to reunite with his former college classmate, Hollywood star Heather Locklear. What starts out as letter requesting an autograph from his old school mate turns into a crazy series of events that turn Straw's life upside down.

In a Q& A on the author's website, Kun revealed that he had sold the film option to the 2003 book and that if the book were ever made into a movie, he'd hope Locklear would want to be involved in it, even though her role in the flick would be decidedly very small. But Kun also said, "Given what I know about Hollywood, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided someone else was better for the Heather Locklear role than Heather Locklear." Hollywood, we're still waiting!

"I Think I Love You"-- Allison Pearson

What Jack Wagner was to 1980s Tiger Beat teen idoldom, David Cassidy was to the 1970s. The former "Patridge Family" star is the subject behind this 2011 book and the story of his 13-year old fan named Petra. But while the fictional Petra's life has been shaped by her teen crush on Cassidy, this book recounts some real-life events, like the singer's White City Stadium concert in 1974 that left one teen fan, Bernadette Whelan, dead after the crowd rushed the stage. Not only did this tragic incident affect the real life David Cassidy (he once said Whelan's death would haunt him until the day he died), but it affects the story's heroine as well.

"Untold Story" -- Monica Ali

Just days before what would have been Princess Diana's 50th birthday, had she lived, this fictional account was published. In Monica Ali's novel, "Untold Story," we're thrust into an alternate universe. After faking her own death, Princess Diana is alive and well and living in small town America. Going under the pseudonym of Lydia Snaresbrook, she spends her days hanging out with her middle aged American girlfriends and volunteering at the local animal shelter. Dull life, huh? Don't worry, despite her surgically changed appearance and brunette dye job, some remnants of Princess Di's former life are ever-present. Plus, in this universe, she has a nice-guy boyfriend. Oh, if only this one were true!
