2009 has been a rocky year for economic growth due to the economic recession and the world has lost a lot of high-profile entertainers, celebrities, sports figures as well as politicians.

Michael Jackson is one of the bizarre deaths of 2009 due to the circumstances that surrounds his death. The King of Pop died at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009. Michael will forever be remembered as one of the greatest musicians of the century. Michael Jackson most famous wardrobe was the red zipper leather jacket, white glove and of course the moonwalk.

Senator Claiborne Pell a Democrat from Rhode Island died at on January 1, 2009 at the age of 90. He served over 36 years in the Senate and was instrumental in developing the college financial aid program called the Pell Grant.

Actor Steven Gilborn died on January 2, 2009 at the age of 72 from cancer. He had over 120 TV credits to his career as an actor.

Carl Pohlad an entrepreneur and a self-made billionaire died on January 5, 2009 at the age of 93. He had a banking empire as well as controlling interest in Pepsi.

Kay Yow died on January 24, 2009 at the age of 66 from breast cancer. She was North Carolina State's women basketball coach.

Larry Miller died on February 20, 2009 from complications of Type II diabetes. He was 64 and former owner of the Utah Jazz.

Paul Harvey died on February 29, 2009 at the age of 90. Was a radio broadcaster who is famous for his quote on the radio as "now for the rest of the story."

Actress Natasha Richardson died on March 18, 2009 in a skiing accident at the young age of 45.

Nick Adenhart age 22 died on April 9, 2009 from a tragic car accident. He was a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels.

David Kellermann former CFO of troubled mortgage giant Freddy Mac died on April 22, 2009 at the age of 41. Authorities found his body at his home and died of an apparent suicide.

Actress Bea Arthur died on April 25, 2009 at the age of 86 from cancer. She was best known for her role in the TV series Golden Girls.

Dom Delouse an actor died on May 4, 2009 at the age of 75.

Former Boston Red Sox outfielder Dom DiMaggio died on May 8, 2008 at the age of 92. His brother was Joe DiMaggio and probably the best known of the two.

Actor David Carradine he died June 3, 2009 at the age of 72 in a Bangkok hotel under very weird circumstances. Some news reports state that David Carradine had sexual excursions and his death may be related to something of similar nature.

Ed McMahon died June 23, 2009 at the age of 86. He was a great TV personality who costarred with Johnny Carson.

Actress Farrah Fawcett died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 62 of cancer.

TV infomercial king Billy Mays died on June 28, 2009 at home in his sleep from an apparent cocaine related death. He was 50 years old.

Ted Kennedy died on August 25, 2009 at the age of 77 from a long battle with brain cancer. He was a lifelong politician who had a long history of questionable ethical behavior considering that he left Mary Jo Kopechne to die while drunk and running his car over a bridge. He returned to the party and didn't call authorities that may have been able to save her life. Nobody will ever know if he would have called authorities alerting them to the wreck if she could have been saved. He received a two-month suspended sentence for killing this woman. Anyone else would have been locked up for years, but his name Kennedy allowed him to walk free.
