Vegan and PETA spokeswoman Alicia Silverstone has taken her healthy eating habits and extended them to her home environment as well. She has solar panels and energy saving appliances. She also has a table top made out of a recycled bowling alley floor. Have you ever wondered, what does happen to bowling alley floors once they are ripped out? I guess they wind up in celebrities homes. In her June interview with In Style magazine, she said "Everything we've brought into this house is environmentally sound"
Julia Roberts wanted to ensure that she was raising her three children in an environmentally conscious way. She enlisted the help of green guru, Sophie Uliano. The environmentalist and yoga instructor helped Roberts to realize that she didn't have to become a crunchy granola mom who doesn't wear make up in order to raise her children in a healthy and natural environment. Uliano was so influential in teaching Roberts about how to live naturally at Roberts wrote the forward for her book Gorgeously Green. In the book, Uliano teaches people how to transform their current life into a more environmentally conscious life. Roberts has learned how to make household cleaning products with natural ingredients.
Gwyneth Paltrow is another celebrity home that is committed to raising her children in a green environment. Gwyneth has launched her own website GOOP.com. The website gives readers information on things that they can make, do and go to in order to live a better life. Paltrow created the site because she said that she felt privileged to have access to all of this information. There have been critics that have said that the items and places that she suggests are out of reach price wise for many people and that her site encourages people to buy things in order to be happy.
