Celine Dion's A New Day Enters Final Year in Las Vegas
The Last Year for This Ground Breaking Production
When you enter the colosseum at Caesar's Palace you realize how small this theatre is. It holds around 3,000 people and was built specifically for Celine Dion. The seats are ultra comfortable and even rock a little. The next thing you notice is the stage. The stage of the colosseum is massive. It takes up a large part of the theatre itself and it set at an angle that slopes down towards the audience. With the chairs being set an angle that slopes down towards the stage this allows for the best view from every possible seat.
When the show starts you'll notice the band is not visible. They entire orchestra is set beneath and into the stage itself. There is a stair case like structure that covers them from view. Also, there is a large screen behind the stage that plays a key role in the production itself. When the show starts the screen turns dark and the music starts. You can hear Celine Dion singing, but you're not at all sure where she will appear. The screen then shows a shadow that gets closer and closer until Celine Dion appears as if from inside the screen.
As Celine Dion goes through hit after hit it is truly amazing at how she is able to hit every note with precision while keeping up with her cast of 60 dancers. For everybody who is thinking they didn't pay the high ticket price to see dancers prancing around on stage, the key focus of this show is Celine Dion and the music. The dancers help tell the story with exquisite choreography and grace.
The sound is so perfect inside the colosseum it makes you wonder if Celine Dion is actually hitting those notes and not just lip syncing to a track, but that couldn't be further from the truth. This award winning singer puts her heart and soul into every breath of every note. It is truly unbelievable and anybody who did not care for Celine Dion or was just going with somebody else to the show will walk out of the theatre as a life long fan.
The final year of Celine Dion's A New Day has begun and will wrap up December 15, 2007. If you have seen the show before and are returning for another viewing don't expect to see the same thing twice. Different costumes have been added along with more songs to keep fans coming back for more. There is truly no greater show on any stage than Celine Dion's A New Day. It is worth every penny to see this super star practice her craft.
