Celtic Cloth Pocket Diapers, Trimmest Diaper You Will Find

Kari Smith
They fit trim, and are hard to stuff for those with large hands. Dad may not be able to help with these, but they're great for big brothers or sisters old enough to stuff a diaper and young enough to still think it's fun being a helper! If you're looking for a nice trim fit for the summer, or the PERFECT swim diaper, these may be for you! (Celtic Cloths)

I had been wanting to try a new diaper for my son. I was looking into trim fitting diapers that would fit well under jeans. I heard a lot of raves about Celtic Cloth pocket diapers and how trim they fit children. I thought I had found the perfect diaper for us.

I purchased my diaper on clearance from the Celtic Cloths site. I lucked out and got a brand new diaper for only $9.00! They normally range around $15.95. I patiently waited for my new diaper to arrive in the mail and could not wait to try it out.

Shipping on my Celtic Cloth diaper only took a couple of days. I was impressed on how speedy the diaper was mailed out. I had a lot of issues with other diaper companies and slow shipping, yet Celtic Cloths shipped my diaper within a day and it was to me only 3 days later. That received a high note in my book.

When I first took my diaper out of the mailing package, I was shocked how tiny it looked. I had ordered a medium sized diaper for my son. I was told on the site that a medium diaper would fit 12-25pounds and I was expecting a diaper much bigger then the one I received in the mail. To me the diaper looked like a newborn sized cloth diaper in one of my other brands. There was not much fabric and the diaper looked as if it would not even fit my son.

I tried the diaper on my son just for good measures. He needed a diaper change anyways. The diaper surprisingly enough fit my son, on the last snaps. He is 20 lbs and extremely skinny for his age. I could not image this diaper to fit a 25 lb toddler like the measurements suggest. The diaper itself did not even go near my child's belly button. It sat low on his stomach. The legs were cut extremely high and the diaper looked like a pair of high cut bikini underwear on my son.

After testing the diaper for an hour, I found my child's clothing soaked. The elastic around the legs of the diaper had been too loose and my child was wicking a lot from around his legs. The diaper itself was not as wet and I give 4 stars to the insert that seemed to hold up to my mean green pee machine of a son. Yet I was disappointed about the leaking around the legs.

I removed the diaper off of my son and placed him in one of our more reliable brands of diapers. I was trying to get the wet insert from inside the diaper out. The pocket of the diaper was impossible to get my hand into. I actually had to get my three year old daughter to reach inside the pocket of the diaper and pull out the insert for me. There was no way on earth that I would even be able to stuff the insert back into the diaper again once I had washed it. And there is no way that I would be able to use any other insert with the diaper other then the insert it came with. I allowed my daughter to try and put a cotton babies micro fiber insert into the pocket and it would not even get half way in. The pockets on the diaper are just way to narrow, even more narrow then that of a Swaddlebees brand diaper.

I was sad these diapers did not work for us. I was really hoping they would be our solution to a trim fitting diaper for under jeans. I believe the diapers would be a god send to people with a little more chunkier tighed babies. I believe this would help prevent the leg leaks that I had experienced with my skinny toddler of a son.

Also when purchasing these diapers I believe people should size up. As I had experienced in my trail, the diapers fit smaller then the sizing suggests. For the best fit they should choose a size bigger then they would in other brands.

Overall, my experience with Celtic Cloth Pocket Diapers was a bit of a disappointment. I had been praying they were the solution for my trim diaper problem, yet they did not work with my son's body shape. I believe they would be better suited for a more chunky child.

I give Celtic Cloths 3 Stars. Their craftsmanship is excellent and their customer service was beyond amazing. The shipping on my diaper was quick. Yet, the diaper fit small and the elastic around the legs was too loose for my son's body shape.
