Center Asking for Warmth Donations

Terri Rimmer
The Wildlife Center at Crosstimbers Ranch in Terrell, TX is in need of your help for baby season which has begun.

If you have extra heating pads you can part with, they would be very grateful for any donations. The materials are to keep the tiniest babies warm and the pads should be the ones without the automatic shut-off.

Your friends and/or family might have these older models sitting around and tiny lives can be saved.

You can either drop the pads off at the center or send by mail. The address is 11605 County Road 2312, Terrell, Texas 75160.

The center is a nonprofit wildlife rescue and runs fully on donations from the public. Staff can also use old pet supplies, cages, crates, food, and/or cash donations to help buy baby formula for the orphan animals.

"You can truly make the difference in the number of wild animals we are able to help this season," states an email. "To make a donation or for further information, visit crosstimberswildlife.org or NBRR.org."

In unrelated animal news, the grand opening celebration of the state-of-theart Irving Animal Care Campus takes place March 27, 1-5 p.m. at 4140 Valley View Lane.

"The partnership between the City of Irving and the DFW Humane Society is the only one of its kind in Texas," states a flyer. "We thank you for leaving your pets at home."

At 1:30 entertainment and Children's Artwork Awards will be held followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 and Open House and Pet Adoptions at 3 p.m. Activities include live music, vendor showcase, free gift bags and prize, burgers courtesy of Outback Steakhouse, and Texas Stadium Memorabilia Raffle, with proceeds from the latter two events benefitting the Irving Animal Care Campus.

Parking will be available at the new center the day of the event and there will be a complimentary shuttle service at the parking lot between the new campus and SanMar Distribution Center, 4701 Northview Drive.

To get to the parking and shuttle take State Highway 161 and go west on Northgate Drive. The large blue and white building is one-fourth of a mile down Northgate at the intersection of Northgate Drive and Northview Drive.
