Center (C) Rookies - Top 3
Bismack Biyombo - Cha - pf/c
While Biyombo is only 19 years old and has never played in the United States before, he has two major factors in his favor entering his rookie year in Charlotte; excellent basketball skills and the opportunity for playing time. On the downside, Biyombo is currently in a contract obligation with his Spanish team, so that must be resolved before he can play in Charlotte this season. However once Biyombo is free to play in the NBA, he could see immediate playing time at center in the Bobcats lineup as a rookie this season. Offering excellent shot blocking and rebounding ability, Biyombo is a solid sleeper pick for fantasy basketball teams.
2010-2011 Spanish Team Stats: 55.2 fg% -- 6.4 ppg -- 0.0 3pt -- 5.1 reb -- 0.3 ast -- 0.4 stl -- 2.3 blk
2011-2012 Projected Stats: 50 fg% -- 6.0 ppg -- 0.0 3pt -- 6.0 reb -- 0.5 ast -- 0.5 stl -- 2.0 blk
Nikola Vucevic - Phi - pf/c
Entering his rookie season with three years of college experience under his belt, Vucevic has walked into an ideal situation in Philadelphia where he will be given plenty of opportunity to claim playing time in the 76ers lineup. With the starting center job up for grabs, Vucevic is a candidate to at least receive 20-25 minutes per game from the get go to begin the 2011-2012 season. Offering solid rebounding and scoring potential, Vucevic is an excellent late round sleeper pick for fantasy basketball teams.
2010-2011 College Stats: 50.5 fg% -- 17.1 ppg -- 0.9 3pt -- 10.3 reb -- 1.6 ast -- 1.6 stl -- 1.4 blk
2011-2012 Projected Stats: 47 fg% -- 10.0 ppg -- 0.5 3pt -- 7.0 reb -- 1.0 ast -- 0.5 stl -- 1.0 blk
Enes Kanter - Uta - c
The #3 overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, Kanter is an extremely talented big man who at just 19 years old will need to gain some experience before he will likely be able to contribute anything significant in an NBA game. However his 6'-11" and 262 frame, to go along with his pure talent and presence in the paint and under the basket, could easily notch him playing time in Utah before too long. Realistically, a mid to late season surge from Kanter is more likely than expecting him to contribute as a rookie early in the season.
2010-2011 College Stats: DNP Kentucky
2011-2012 Projected Stats: 47 fg% -- 6.0 ppg -- 0.0 3pt -- 4.5 reb -- 0.5 ast -- 0.3 stl -- 1.0 blk
