Less than a mile off the emerald coast in SanDestin, Florida, Chris Damiano passionately leads Kung Fu classes at Centerline Martial Arts. Damiano's biggest strength is his dedication to the art. Though there are very few people in the world that match his ability, you would never hear him say that. True to the distinct style of die hard martial artists, he is humble and see's his students not only as students of sport, but students of life.
Personally, Damiano's training is annually refreshed with visits to Hong Kong studying under Ip Ching. Ip Ching is son of the famous grand master Ip Man - the teacher of the famous Bruce Li. Ip is highly selective in who is trained in Wing Chun, a style created for woman, by women which is renowned for its artful technique, as opposed to strength against strength. And Chris, is an American ambassador!
Chris is a family man, welcoming students of all ages. He has recently opened the doors of Judo, through a well-trained student from the Midwest, Dennis Moreland (who has over 20 years of training and holds several black belts.) Dennis, too, offers both youth and adult classes. So, multiple styles can be learned at Centerline from those who have trained with the best of the best.
Students
At Centerline you will find a faithful training following. The students are dedicated to the art and attend regularly, and with classes for all ages a family atmosphere is inevitable. Though skill levels, gender, age and occupation dramatically differ, the students are all united in their goal; to learn and master the timeless and well-respected art of Wing Chun.
Open class formats are specialized, offering whatever a student is working on - custom to skill level. This applies to form training, sparring, practical application, wooden dummy drills and Chi Sao. In these areas, students progress at the rate they feel comfortable with. Progression is dependant on aptitude, practice, time and amount of days attending training - it is not a one-size-fits-all at Centerline.
Friendliness welcomes you in this Studio. Ego's are not tolerated which helps every learner feel safe and comfortable accelerating at their own rate. If you are looking to boost your self esteem, learn fighting technique and self defense, and have a great time training under the best...there is no better place in the Panhandle than Centerline Martial Arts.
